McFarland invested a lot of his money and time to build this community. He built a large ranch here, which is owned and maintained by the Galt Area Historical Society. The McFarland Ranch is wonderfully preserved, and is a great place to visit to learn about history of the town and how the settlers farmed in the pioneer days.
