Newport Heights
Newport Heights has many dog-friendly activities. The nearby beach makes it easy for dogs to get an on-leash walk along the ocean. Rules about usage of the beach for dog walking are posted with the city. In general, dogs enjoy the beach early in the morning and after dark. Cleaning up after your pup is a must for beach-walking.

Balboa Peninsula
The Balboa Peninsula neighborhood, or just Balboa, has some beautiful oceanfront properties, overlooking the Newport Pier and the Balboa Pier. Newport Beach dogs living here enjoy the flavor of salty air and the feel of sand under the paws. These maritime dogs are allowed on beaches in the morning and afternoon. Leashes required on the beach. The Balboa Pier is located in the Peninsula Park which also offers water, a play area, and a great view of the ocean. Food, restaurants, and shopping all are near the Newport and Balboa Piers. There is a four-wheeled “trolley” that provides transportation especially on the peninsula. For those visiting dogs, there are many dog-friendly accommodations, including a beautiful cottage on Balboa that has everything necessary for a dog and human’s dream vacation.

Corona del Mar
Corona del Mar is a strip of land that sits in between Balboa and the Newport Coast. This tiny place has many dog-centered activities. On-leash beach walking is always a fun thing to do when the city allows it. Through its Chamber of Commerce, the city oversees and promotes the community’s dog-friendly events and activities. The Commerce supports its local animal shelter by hosting Yappy Hour, a doggone good time where dog and person can enjoy some food and drink for a good cause. This fundraising event is used to help meet the expenses of finding the area’s strays and rescues a home.

Newport Center
Newport Center is an economic hub of Newport Beach. This neighborhood has the nickname “Fashion Island” because of the many upscale retail shops that are located here. “Fashion Island”, though, is a very dog-friendly place. Dogs are generally allowed outside stores on leash. Some stores and restaurants allow dogs inside, too. Newport Center is also where Muttropolis can be found. Muttropolis, located at 865 Newport Center, has all sorts of pet toys, food, and a vast array of dog items for sale. The store regularly supports adoption events by local shelters. After a hard day of shopping, a dog will want to go run a bit at the Newport Beach Dog Park at San Miguel and Avocado. The park is small but has separate enclosures for small and large dogs. Dogs are able to run leash-free in a round patch of green grass. Other parts of the dog park are concrete, rock, and dirt.

San Joaquin
The people and their dogs of San Joaquin Hills love their neighborhood. It is close to shopping, restaurants, and the beach. If you and Fido get hungry after a long day of fun in the sun at the beach, check out Zov’s Cafe Bakery and Bar. Your darling dog can dine on fancy Eastern Mediterranean fare with you at any of the restaurant’s outdoor areas. This restaurant is renowned for their delicious desserts. If, for some reason, you get tired of walking on the beach and fancy going to a dog park, the nearest one from this neighborhood is in Irvine, about 11 miles away. The Central Bark Dog Park has separate areas for dogs based on size, waste bags, and water onsite.
