The Balboa Peninsula neighborhood, or just Balboa, has some beautiful oceanfront properties, overlooking the Newport Pier and the Balboa Pier. Newport Beach dogs living here enjoy the flavor of salty air and the feel of sand under the paws. These maritime dogs are allowed on beaches in the morning and afternoon. Leashes required on the beach. The Balboa Pier is located in the Peninsula Park which also offers water, a play area, and a great view of the ocean. Food, restaurants, and shopping all are near the Newport and Balboa Piers. There is a four-wheeled “trolley” that provides transportation especially on the peninsula. Corona del Mar is a strip of land that sits in between Balboa and the Newport Coast. This tiny place has many dog-centered activities. Newport Center is an economic hub of Newport Beach. After a hard day of shopping, a dog will want to go run a bit at the Newport Beach Dog Park at San Miguel and Avocado. The park is small but has separate enclosures for small and large dogs. Dogs are able to run leash-free in a round patch of green grass. Other parts of the dog park are concrete, rock, and dirt.
