Silverado has been a California Historical Landmark since it was originally mined for silver in the late 19th and early 20th century. This lovely town is located in the Santa Ana Mountains within the Silverado Canyon, giving you and Fido the perfect escape from the busy L.A. area. Filled with great hiking trails, your pup is going to love hanging out in Silverado. Although there are no veterinarians within Silverado, just down the road in Irvine there is a plethora to visit.

The Silverado Park is a great spot to let your dog get a good walk in and have a nice day by your side. The park offers a swimming pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, and some sports fields where Fido can run in the grass. The park is small, but it has a nice walking path that the two of you can enjoy together.

If Fido wants to get a good hike in, check out the Black Star Canyon Trail. This 6.8-mile trail is an out-and-back route that is filled with caves, wildlife, a waterfall, and an awesome forest to travel through. With a 925-foot elevation gain, the trail is labeled as hard and can take some time for you and Fido to finish.

    The Modjeska Community Park is less of a park and more of a nice area of nature where you and Fido can hang out. This park has a fenced in playground and a nice walking trail that takes you up a great hill. This park is perfect to bring Fido to for a good walk before continuing your day. The Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary in the canyon offers a science center, amphitheater, and three hiking trails for you and your pup to enjoy. The trails offer picnic tables and benches for you both to relax on if you need to take a break. While visiting the sanctuary, your dog needs to stay on leash.

    The Falls Canyon Trail offers an 11.4-mile hike near Tujunga that features a great view of a waterfall. This out and back hike is generally not very busy, making it ideal for shy pups. You and Fido will be getting a good workout on this trail since it has an 3,106-foot elevation gain. Once you reach the waterfall, you will be greeted with a river that you both can jump in to cool down. Fido needs to stay on a leash while hiking this great trail, and don't forget water since the trail can get hot.
