The area of Twentynine Palms lies in the southern region of California, right on the northern edge of the Joshua Tree National Park. The town was named after the number of palm trees found in the area when it was first surveyed. Nowadays, the town motto is "A Beautiful Desert Oasis," thanks to its thriving town surrounded by vast deserts. Despite the dry and dusty area, the town still has some lush green parks that are dog-friendly. Two veterinarians right in town ensure that pups here stay healthy and happy.

The Twentynine Palms Dog Park is at the peak of best places to walk Fido, thanks to its large open area, shady trees, and a paved walking path that is completely fenced-in. The path is made from concrete and loops around the park, with a dirt and sandy terrain in the middle, a picnic pavilion, and some piece of agility equipment. Pups also get access to water fountains, benches, clean-up stations, and toys.

The town hosts an entrance to the renowned Joshua Tree National Park, which has 429,690 acres of desert for hikers, explorers, and campers. The park draws daily attention thanks to its easy hiking paths, clean campsites, and gorgeous views of the surrounding deserts. Dogs are welcome into the park while they remain on a leash, with access to water fountains, benches, and trash bins in the recreational and camping parts of the park.

With a walkable downtown area, the Indian Cove Boy Scout Trail, and a dog-friendly park known as Cleghorn Lakes Wilderness Area, there is never a dull moment in this oasis.

Whether you're looking for a nice place to play with Fido or a chance to explore the vast wilderness surrounding the town, Twentynine Palms makes sure to include Fido in all of its outdoor activities.
