The best dog friendly neighborhoods in Indio

Colony Park
If you’re looking for a quiet park to walk your dog, head to Dr Carreon Park in Indio’s Colony Park neighborhood. This park is small and simple, but that makes it the perfect retreat for shy dogs. A few laps around the park should take the edge off their energy! If your pup loves the hustle and bustle, go a few blocks across the neighborhood to South Jackson Park instead. This park is focused on community involvement. There’s a playground area for kids, and community complex, and sports fields! This park is much more popular, and there’s more room for a leashed dog to walk.

Shadow Hills
Dog Park Shadow Hills is a conveniently located off leash dog park that’s pupular with the locals. If your dog loves to kick up their heels, this is the place for you. The dog park is a simple space with fences, some grass and dirt area, and room to roam. If your dog gets tired of the crowd, you can leash them up and walk the area around the dog park. There are some paths that lead a little ways into the hills, and there are gorgeous views of Indio below. Bring your own water and plan to go during the day, as the park isn’t lit at night.

North Indio
Even in the busy North Indio neighborhood, people make time for relaxation. Dogs don’t have to make time for it; it comes as naturally to them as we wish it did to us! If you find yourself running between the residential and commercial sides of North Indio, stop with your dog at North Jackson Park. This community hub is usually busy with people coming and going. There’s plenty for a curious dog to see! Bring your own bowl, because there aren’t drinking fountains the right size for your pup. If you want a quieter experience, try Yucca Park. This nearby park is smaller, and could be quieter.

North La Quinta
Eighteen minutes from Indio is the neighborhood of North La Quinta in La Quinta. You have two amazing dog parks to choose from within this space. The first is Seasons Dog Park which has separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, making it the perfect place to let your big pup run free. The section for small dogs is a bit smaller, however. Prepare to play fetch to really stretch your pup’s tiny legs. The other option is the Fritz Burns Dog Park, located inside Fritz Burns Park, and is a smaller area with one clear advantage: the bright lights let it stay open until 10pm!

Sunmor
The Sunmor neighborhood of Palm Springs is 25 minutes from Indio. What makes it worth the drive is the Palm Springs Dog Park. This community maintained space is perfect for social dogs and their owners! This park has several fenced off areas, so your dog can find the right playmates. There are pools in the summer, and a small pond year-round. There are climbing rocks and dirt/sand fields for running and playing. Waste bags are provided, as well as water fountains. Palm Springs Dog Park is an oasis in Sunmor, and your pup is going to be barking about it for a long time.
