Angeles Crest

The Mount Islip Trail is located in Pearblossom which is five minutes out of Valyermo. The trail is a 5.5-mile hike with an out and back trail route, is great for all skill levels, and is used mainly by hikers, bikers, and horses. If you reach the summit on this hike, it will give you awesome views of Crystal Lake and the San Gabriel River Canyon. If the Mount Islip Trail isn't your jam, nearby is the Mount Williamson Trail. The trail is 5-miles long and basically the twin hike to the Mount Islip Trail. Both these trails are dog friendly, and Fido can run around off leash while the two of you explore.

Cedar Springs

If you and Fido are looking for an easier and calmer hike to do together, look no further then the Waterman Mountain Trail. The trail is about 5-miles out of Valyermo, and the perfect spot for you and your furry friend to explore. It is 4.5-miles long and will take you through the wooded Angeles Forest. You'll also come upon a few streams for your furry pal to splash around in. If you and Fido want to spend some time on the mountain, the Buckhorn Campground is the starting point of the trail, and a great spot to rest with your pup.

Antelope Center

Fifteen miles out of Valyermo is the Alpine Butte Wildlife Sanctuary. This dogtastic sanctuary is home to some prehistoric rock formations, and has the presence of dinosaur, marine, and flying reptile fossils. The sanctuary is 320-acres of sand dunes, creosote bush scrubs, and woodlands. You and Fido are allowed to explore the sanctuary at your leisure, but Fido needs to stay on leash. Be sure not to enter the prohibited areas. Bring water since there isn't any shade, and don't forget your clean-up bags. When you visit, don't forget to stop in to see some of the wildlife, like the Mojave desert tortoise or the kit foxes. The sanctuary can be busy at times since it is popular among school field trips.

Desert View Highlands

Grab Fido and jump into the car to Palmdale, which is twenty miles out of Valyermo and home to a plethora of great dog friendly restaurants for you and Fido to dine at. Sharky's Woodfired Mexican Grill is a healthy Mexican spot that serves tacos, burritos, and more. PizzaRev is a casual pizzeria that has an array of delicious pizza that you and your furry pal can choose from. Claim Jumper is a restaurant and saloon that serves lunch and dinner. Their menu includes chicken pot pie, sandwiches, and sliders. All of these restaurants have dog friendly patios and welcome Fido to join you for a meal.

Vincent

If you and your furry pal are looking for some fine dining that includes a full service bar and a copious wine cellar, look no further then the Vincent Hill Restaurant and Saloon. Located in Palmdale, which is 22 miles out of Valerymo, Fido won't mind the drive once he gets a look at this awesome menu, plus the restaurant is located inside of an old train station. Vincent Hill serves lunch and dinner, and they offer a Saturday lunch menu and a Sunday champagne brunch. Their outdoor patio is dog friendly, and they love when your furry pal joins you for a tasty meal.
