My pup doesn t like the harness and runs away when trying to put it on. Alwin took the time to catch her and get her harnessed up when she was being difficult to make sure she could go potty and move around a bit.

The East Boulder neighborhood, of the town of Boulder, is just 9 miles southeast of Niwot, and features the Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat. Here you will find the Walden Ponds Trails, perfect for all pup-abilities. This 2.9-mile stroll is paved and level, and winds around Wally Toevs Pond, where fisherman flock, the Cottonwood Marsh, which offers a boardwalk to stroll across, and the Rick Weiser Wetlands. Or head to Sawhill Pond’s three short .2-mile trails and longer .8-mile trail, which pups will love, all directly alongside the lake. Keep your fur-ever friend on leash and restrooms are on-site at both locations.

North Boulder

Head to Coot’s Park in Boulder, 9 miles southeast of Niwot. This natural area is where you will find a great fishing lake and a walking path meandering around the lake for 1.2 miles. Or why not check out the Tom Watson Park?  This community park offers sports courts and fields where you can catch a game, a children’s playground, and paved walking paths, suitable for all pup-tastic pups! Don’t’ forget to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy here. Restrooms are on site, and be sure to keep your pup on leash.

In the Palo Park neighborhood, in the city of Boulder, 9 miles southeast of Niwot, you and your pawtastic pup will enjoy North Palo Park. This centrally-located park offers pups and people paved paths to stroll and plenty of benches to relax after. This park features large, grassy open spaces where visitors are encouraged to make their own fun. This unstructured area is perfect to spread a blanket and rest with your fur-ever friend by your side. You can find restrooms and fountains within the park, as well. Please keep Fido on leash throughout!

Check out the Valmont Bikes Park in Boulder, 9 miles southeast of Niwot. Here you will find Valmont Dog Park which offers large pups 3 acres to romp and a separate .25 acres for small pups! Water is provided! Afterwards, check out Valmont Park’s entire 42 acres of natural surfaces for cycling, benches, and picnic tables scattered throughout. Walkers are welcome here with their leashed pawtastic friends. Hungry yet? Head to Upslope Brewing where dogs are welcome indoors and out, or Avery Brewing Company for some outdoor patio dining with your pup!

The Niwot neighborhood, of the city of Niwot, is home to Monarch Park. This park is full of fun, outdoor activities. There is a children’s playground and grassy areas to relax. Or meander throughout the park on the paved walking paths. For a longer day hike, you and your pawtastic pup can begin at the Monarch Trailhead which runs for 6.4 miles. This links to the even longer Longmont to Boulder Regional Trail. You can see hot air balloons in the summer and continuous views of the Rocky Mountains. Make sure to keep Fido on leash on this multi-use trail.
