Just a few miles north of Denver is the town of Dacono, Colorado. Sitting in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, this small town offers visitors and residents plenty of neighborly charm, but is close to the big city for plenty of nightlife and cultural entertainment. This dog-friendly town is the perfect place to enjoy with your fur-ever friend. In case you have any health concerns for Fido, there are two veterinary clinics in the nearby town of Firestone, ready to assist.
For a great hiking adventure here, head to Legacy Trail. This is part of a larger network of trails, which will eventually connect many towns. Legacy Trail offers walkers, hikers and bikers 12 miles of pawtastically paved paths and 8 miles of gravel trails, which are all perfect for any skill level pup! Because this is a multi-use system of trails, it is advised to keep Fido on leash. Because of the mile-high altitude in this area, be sure to pack plenty of water to share on this hike and maybe a picnic lunch to enjoy together along the way!

The Cimarron Point neighborhood, in the city of Firestone, 2.5 miles north of Dacono, offers a great hiking trail which you can access here. The Firestone Trail is an old railroad line that has been converted into a rail trail. This trail is dog-friendly and is 8.5 miles long, running to the city of Dacono. It is wheelchair accessible and is comprised of both asphalt and dirt. Because it is a multi-use trail, suitable for horseback riding, bikes and skating, keep your fur-ever friend on leash throughout. For this rural hike, be sure to pack plenty of water to share.
West Fort Lupton

In the West Fort Lupton neighborhood in Fort Lupton, 7 miles east of Dacono, Pearson Park is the place to take your fur-ever friend for some outdoor recreation. There is a biking and walking path that meanders throughout this park, appropriate for all pup-abilities! There are benches along the way to relax and unwind. Don’t miss the scenic overlook with views of the surrounding area and Rocky Mountains. Other amenities you will find at Pearson Park include a playground for the kiddies and multiple sports fields. Restrooms are on-site. Bring mutt mitts to keep this park clean.

Looking for some outdoor fun with your fur-ever friend? Head to the Centennial Park neighborhood of Frederick, north of Dacono. Centennial Park is chock full of things to do. There is a 5-station fitness trail which loops around the park, perfect for taking pup for an on-leash stroll. Benches are placed throughout with great views of art installations and the Rocky Mountains. There are other hiking and biking trails here as well. Check out the cool boulder climbing section, sports fields, playground and picnic areas. Restrooms and water fountains are on-site. Bring clean up mitts to keep this park pristine.

The Jesse neighborhood, in the city of Firestone, just 2.4 miles north of Dacono, is home to St. Vrain State Park. This park offers 600 acres of outdoor space as well as 152 acres of ponds. Hop on the Muskrat Run Nature Trail that makes a one-mile loop around Sandpiper Pond. There are picnic tables along this path to relax. If you like to fish, St. Vrain has fishing docks on all the ponds, just waiting for you to throw in your line. Don’t forget your camera and plenty of water to share. Pups need to remain on leash here.

Visit the Clem DuFours Park, in The Glens neighborhood, of the town of Dacono, for some relaxing fun with pup by your side. This is a family, and dog-friendly, park that has beautifully landscaped grounds and open spaces to throw out a blanket and enjoy the scenery. Plenty of shade trees are dotted throughout this park to escape the summer sun. It is a great place to share a picnic lunch with your pawtastic pup at tables available under covered pavilions. Restrooms and drinking fountains are provided. All you need is a leash and some mutt mitts for Fido!
