Woodmen
Within U S A F Academy, the little area of Woodmen boasts a dog-friendly welcome. Visitors to Woodmen have direct access to a beautiful hiking trail that is completely dog-friendly. With miles of trail to hike with your favorite doggie companion, the New Santa Fe Regional Trail is fun for everyone to enjoy. The trail is very safe for beginning hikers, and entertaining for advanced hikers too. Above all else, your dog will be sure to have a tail-wagging good time. New scents, wildlife critters, and moments to stretch legs flutter throughout peripherals. The time spent here is always full of cheer and happy faces.

Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs is only a short twenty-minute commute from U S A F Academy, and is home to a numerous amount of animal-friendly activities for you to enjoy. With seven parks and eight hiking trails to choose from, your dog will be in paradise here in Colorado Springs. The parks are enclosed with fence and have separate areas for small dogs to enjoy safe play, too. Water spigots and other accommodations, such as benches and shaded areas, are also available for visitor use. One of the most famous hiking trails of Colorado Springs, Seven Falls, is named after the seven waterfalls that you and Fido can see by hiking the local trail.

Cascade
An estimated thirty-minute commute from USAF Academy, Cascade is home to two hiking trails. At Pikes Peak, several trails intertwine around streams and open grassy fields. It is recommended that you keep your dog leashed, but it’s not required. With new scents, critters to find, and plenty of room to romp, your dog is sure to have a tail-waggingly pawtastic time! The beautiful views of mountains and water are well worth the drive. If you and your dog love the outdoors, Pikes Peak is highly recommended by all visitors. The other hiking trail, Waldo Canyon Loop Trail, is a little over seven miles in length within the Pike National Forest. With a creek, Pikes Peak granite, and a meadow, Waldo Canyon is also a beautiful destination to take Fido. Don’t forget to bring a camera!

Larkspur
Twenty-five minutes from the USAF Academy, Larkspur is home to two dog parks. The local favorite is Devon’s Dog Park at Greenland, but the alternative dog park offers a barking good time too! Both parks are fenced areas, so feel free to let Fido off his leash. Devon’s Dog Park at Greenland offers enough space for you to walk around as your dog runs and plays, or to play a fair few games of fetch together. The park also has benches for you to rest on while your dog plays, and a small agility course for extra mental stimulation and training.

Woodland Park
Although almost fifty minutes from USAF Academy, Woodland Park is a highly rated area to bring your dog to. Woodland Park is a ruff-tastic destination for dogs of all sizes. Local dogs love to play ball and fetch in the fenced-in areas. In order to protect dogs, only friendly dogs are allowed to play in the parks, and small dogs are even separated from the bigger dogs. The local park of Bear Creek offers numerous doggy luxuries such as a creek, pathways, and open fields to frolic through. Restrooms, water stations, and waste disposal areas are also available accommodations here at this highly-rated dog park.
