Destin, Florida is one of the most pet-friendly cities in the country! As you walk through the city and enjoy Florida’s Emerald Coast, you’ll spot dogs of all shapes and sizes enjoying the city’s amenities and attractions.

In the heart of the city is the Destin Bark Park. Dogs over 35 pounds are kept on one side of the park while smaller dogs are kept on the other. This park is free to use and heavily enjoyed by both residents and visitors to Destin. There are wide-open spaces for running, beautiful shade trees for hot days, water fountains for both pets and their humans, park benches, and a friendly crowd of regulars! What’s not to love?

Nearby Henderson Beach State Park allows on-leash dogs. No additional fee is required for well-behaved pooches. Note that the dogs are not allowed on beaches in the park, but are welcome to use the campground and nature trails with their owners. Due to a city-wide ordinance, dogs are not allowed on beaches unless their resident owners file for a special permit. If your dog is a water lover, pet-friendly pontoon boat rentals are available at some of Destin’s local businesses.

Looking for a place to walk Fido? Try the Harborwalk Village, a busy dock that has restaurants, shopping, and fresh seafood pulled in daily. Or, check out the Crystal Beach community – wide sidewalks and gorgeous beach houses make this the perfect Destin stroll.
