Central

If you’re in Wright and are looking to grab a bite to eat, and you want to bring your best four-legged pal along, head to Pepito’s. Pepito’s is a pet-friendly Mexican restaurant which prides itself on its authentic Mexican cuisine. Fido can join you at one of the outdoor tables, but locals warn that it’s best to call ahead, as there are only 3 tables available on the patio. It’d be a shame to get there with Fido and not be able to bring him along. A leash is required, as is good behavior. Bone Appetit!

Southwest

Southwest Fort Walton Beach, located 10 minutes directly south of Wright, is home to Liza Jackson Park, and inside of that park, you’ll find the Liza Jackson Dog Park! This off-leash dog park has two separate sections: one for large dogs and one for small dogs. It’s crucial that your dog plays in the correct section, lest the two of you be kicked out of this popular bark park. Your dog is welcome to join you in exploring the rest of Liza Jackson Park, but he’ll need a leash once the two of you step out of the dog park.

Central

Less than 15 minutes west of Wright is Niceville, and just as their name implies, this city has a nice dog park you can take Fido to! This off-leash dog park spans 4 acres, allowing your pet plenty of room to run around and make pawesome new friends of his own species! This dog park has plenty of shady seating for dog parents, and there are even perks for the pups, including water fountains designed specifically for them. Make sure to bring your own waste disposal bags, as none are provided by the park.

Western Destin

Destin, located about 30 minutes away from Wright, is one more city to add to your dog’s to-do list. Destin is home to the aptly named Destin Dog Park, where your dog is sure to have a howling good time! This dog park, which spans nearly two acres, is off-leash and completely fenced in, so your dog can have fun in confidence. There’s a separate section for small dogs, and the park has plenty of seating for you in both sections. Destin Dog Park also supplies plenty of water for your pups, but you’ll need to bring your own. Your dog will love getting to make some new four-legged friends.

Oak Tree Nature Preserve

If your dog likes going for walks – and what dog doesn’t? – head to Mary Esther’s Oak Tree Nature Preserve, which is located less than 5 miles southwest of Wright. This nature preserve features a one-mile long trail that takes you through the woods. Your dog is sure to find something that will catch his eye, so to keep your pooch safe, a leash is required at all times. Locals love to share how beautiful the trail is, so along with Fido’s leash and some water, you might even want to bring along your camera.
