Oak Tree Nature Preserve is a gorgeous space that has walking trails winding throughout it, showing off the beautiful trees, flowers and wildlife; leashed dogs are welcome to enjoy the preserve with their owners, just clean up after them by using one of the provided waste bins located on the trails.

Okaloosa Island

A mile and a half across the Choctawhatchee Bay from Fort Walton, Okaloosa Island has dining, lodging, entertainment, and shopping that is easily accessed via the Miracle Strip Parkway. Wayside Park offers fishing, picnic areas, pavilions, volleyball, and boardwalks scattered along the coast; leashed dogs are cleaned up after are welcome to accompany their owners for a day of fun in the sun! Only 7.5 miles from Fort Walton, the coastal town of Destin offers scenic views of Destin Harbor, East Pass, and The North Channel. Destin Dog Park is the community doggie play area that is safely gated, allowing pups to run and play off-leash! The dog park provides separate spaces for big and little pups, water dishes, benches, and shade trees. Looking for more adventure? As its name suggests, this pleasant locale is conveniently located off East John Sims Parkway, and Partin Drive North, which is only 13 miles north of Fort Walton.
