There is no better place to enjoy some exercise in the fresh air with your pooch than on the Blackwater Heritage State Trail! This sniff-tastic trail is pawsome for your pup, since it is nearly 10 miles long and a fun way to explore Milton. Based on the old Florida and Alabama Railroad, the trail runs through rural and urban areas for a furrific day out. Since cyclists can use this trail too, it may be best to keep your furry friend on leash. Of course, after all of that exercise, you are bound to be hungry! Stop by Taco Town to order your favorite tacos, nachos or burritos, and your dog can sit and watch the world go by at one of the outdoor tables out on the grass!

If you love seafood, then you have got to try the Shrimp Basket when you are in Milton. This is a puptastic dog friendly restaurant where you can dig into gumbo, shrimp and lots of other tasty dishes that you won’t find anywhere else. Of course, your pooch is welcome to join you! There are 12 dog friendly tables where you can chill out and enjoy your meal. If you are visiting Milton and need a place to stay with your furry friend, have a look at rooms in the Emerald Sands Inn. Here you can bring two dogs of any size for only a small additional fee per night.

When you are in Milton, you have got to take a trip to the Optimist Dog Park! This is a pawsome place to bring your pooch for some exercise, with plenty of green grass to roam and run safely off leash. It is located in Optimist Park and is all fenced in for your pup’s safety, with a separate area for small pooches and larger dogs. There are some fun obstacles to practice your four-legged friend’s training, and water is provided when it is hot. What’s more, there are also dog waste bags in case you furgot your own! If you get hungry, stop at Grover T’s BBQ, which serves up burgers, pulled pork, smoked brisket and other delicious meals. Your furry friend can also join you at one of the outdoor tables!

East Milton

Every pup loves a trip to the park, and one of the best places to go in Milton is the Russell Harber Landing Park! This is pawsome place located along the Blackwater River where you can go for a leisurely stroll on the trails, and get a good view of the river and boats. Your four-legged friend is also allowed to be off leash on the grass and trails, which means he can stretch his legs and enjoy running and roaming. Just be sure that your dog has good recall, as the park is not fenced in. What’s more, there are spots in the park where your canine can splash and go for a swim, as well as benches and picnic tables to enjoy a treat.
