The Medical Lake neighborhood is a family-friendly community that is conveniently located off highway 902 and offers gorgeous views that overlook Medical Lake. Medical Lake Waterfront Park is located on the south side of the lake and offers beautiful sand beaches, picnic areas, playground, swimming area, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and access to their expansive Lake Trail System. They allow pups to enjoy the scenery as long as they are kept on-leash at all times. If you’re visiting from out of town or need emergency dog friendly lodging, Medical Lake Airbnb Rentals and their partners provide accommodations for pups in private homes, and usually with a yard!

Airway Heights

This residential neighborhood provides quick and easy access to Highway 2, Interstate 90 and Airway Heights Corrections Center. Sunset Park is plotted on 11 acres of land and includes a baseball field, softball field, skate park, volleyball court, basketball court and walking trails! The park encourages owners to bring their leashed dogs to enjoy the park and jogging trails with their owners; they just ask you please pick up after them. Aspen Grove Park is a fairly new park that is located on 8.5 acres and provides walking paths, playgrounds, picnic shelters, and a splash pad! Dogs that are leashed are welcome to enjoy the park and its amenities!

Geiger Heights

The community of Geiger Heights is located just 13 miles east of Espanola and offers easy access to Highway 90. Columbia Plateau Trail State Park is one of Washington’s hidden gems, encompassing 130 miles! There are multiple trailheads that you and your leashed pooch can explore together, as well as a Wildlife Refuge that is home to numerous species of plant and wildlife. If you happen to be passing through or staying in the area, the Super 8, Best Western Plus, and Wingate by Wyndham all accommodate canine companions!

Cheney

Located only 14 miles south of Espanola, the community of Cheney offers locals easy access to outdoor recreation, Highway 904, and Interstate 90. Turnbull Wildlife Refuge is a massive national refuge that is situated on 18,217 acres of unique territory. This area was formed from volcanoes, glaciers, and floods, creating what are known as Channeled Scablands, which provide gorgeous views and diverse wildlife. Cheever Lake Headquarters Trail is 3 miles long and located inside the Turnbull Wildlife Refuge and is a great path to walk Fido in the Cheney area!

Glenrose

About a half-hour drive from Espanola, and not too far from Spokane, Glenrose offers quick and easy access to Interstate 90 and the Iller Creek Conservation Area. South Hill Dog Park is a large, fenced-in doggie park that allows your pup to run, play and socialize. Water, shaded areas, and three separate entrances are provided! Iller Creek Conservation Area is plotted on 1,233 acres of diverse land that is home to a ton of various wildlife species, and provides access to the Iller Creek Conservation Area Trail. This trail is 2 miles long and will take you and your leashed pup an estimated 2 hours to complete.
