Central Flagler Beach
Thirty-five miles south of Elkton is a beach where you can take your pup to swim and sniff the sand: Flagler Beach. This beach is located in the city by the same name and allows leashed dogs to enjoy some fun in the sun! The leash regulations state that your dog's leash can’t be longer than 8 feet. You should remember to bring water and waste baggies since the beach doesn’t provide either. There is parking nearby, so you won't have to worry about hunting for a spot. The beach is pretty spacious and well-maintained, and the best part is that it is completely free!

Vilano Beach
The hot Florida weather calls for visiting lots of beaches and enjoying the magnificent ocean views! For that purpose, you can visit the Vilano Beach, which is located in St. Augustine, around 15 miles away from Elkton. The great news is that dogs are allowed off-leash as long as they are under voice command and stay close to their pawrents at all times. Owners have to clean up after their dogs, so make sure you bring some waste baggies with you to keep the sand nice and tidy. The beach also provides parking right on the beach, so you won't have to walk far to get to the sand and surf!

Sixteen miles away from Elkton is a park for those of you who feel more comfortable taking your dogs to a shaded, fenced area rather than the beach. Joe Pomar Park is located in central St. Augustine, just a short drive away. This park has it all! There are separate dog areas for small and large breeds and plenty of grass and mud for Fido to roll around in. But don't worry if your buddy gets a little muddy -- there's a hose to rinse out their fur, and a kiddie pool where they can cool off! There are also toys scattered through the park and plenty of shade to protect the pooches from overheating.

St Augustine Beach
Paws Dog Park is located around 11 miles away from Elkton, in St Augustine Beach. This park is another place where you can take your pup for an off-leash romp in a safe, fenced area. The park is pretty spacious and has thick shade from the large trees that are placed throughout the dog park, which is a big plus in Florida’s weather. Picnic tables and benches are provided for the pet parents. Fresh water is also available here, and there are buckets and a pool for cooling off. You will want to bring a towel for your pooch.
Ravine Gardens State Park
Around 19 miles southwest of Elkton, across the St. Johns River, you'll find a place that both you and your dog will surely enjoy. Ravine Gardens State Park is one of the most divine places in the area. A natural ravine from the St. Johns River was transformed into a wonderful garden with a rich trail system. Dogs are welcome in all areas of this pawesome state park as long as they are on a leash that is not longer than 6 feet. Waste bags are provided at two waste stations in the park, and you have an obligation to clean after your dog.
