Jacksonville
As an Asbury Lake resident, you are only thirty miles away from one of the largest cities in Florida: Jacksonville. This puts you at an extreme advantage because Jacksonville is home to a staggering eleven dog parks! But that’s not all -- Jacksonville is also home to plenty of restaurants, stores and activity centers such as art galleries that welcome dogs of all breeds and sizes. In addition to all the dog parks, the city also has one park that is seldom seen in other cities, a doggie pool park! This park’s sole purpose is to cool off dogs on hot summer days and provide them clean water to splash and swim in.

Gainesville
Although Gainesville is a little over 50 miles from Asbury Lake, the long drive is definitely worth it. Gainesville is not only home to some of the best restaurants and largest shopping centers in Florida, but it houses five dog parks! If you decide to take the plunge and spend your day in Gainesville, you will be able to choose from Haisley Lynch Park, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, Forest Park, Possum Creek Dog Park, Squirrel Ridge Park and Dogwood Park. All the parks listed are off-leash, but if you plan on walking around the city or going to a shopping center, make sure you take a leash, doggie poop bags and a water bowl.

Fernandina Beach
If you’ve explored all the dog parks in your area, it is time to make the 62-mile drive to Fernandina Beach. Fernanda Beach is home to two dog parks, in addition to many dog-friendly venues, activities, and restaurants. While at Fernandina Beach make sure you visit the Nassau Humane Society Dog Park. This park has multiple grassy areas and pools separated by dog size. The second park you must visit is the Fernandina Beach Main Park. The park side of the Fernandina Beach Main Park is off-leash but the beach side of the park is on-leash.

St. Augustine
In comparison to Asbury Lake, four dog parks must seem like a quite a large number. However, St. Augustine is not only home to four dog parks. Located approximately 38 miles from Asbury Lake, the drive to St. Augustine is definitely worth it! Spend your time at one of the dog parks, head to one of the many dog beaches or spend your day at a dog-friendly venue. There is no shortage of things to do with your pup in St. Augustine. Just remember to take your own doggie poop bags and a leash for the on-leash activities within the city.

Fountain Drive
Although Orange Park does not have many dog parks, it makes up for it with its one tremendous dog park, Poochie’s Swim and Play Park. Located only 15 miles away from Asbury Lake, Poochie’s Swim and Play Park is one of the most fun parks your dog will ever set paws in! This completely fenced-in park is off-leash and welcomes dogs of all ages and breeds. Unlike other dog parks, there is not a large grassy area to play in, but there is a blue pool that will remind you of a beautiful blue lagoon for your dog to swim and splash in!
