The best dog friendly neighborhoods in Haiku

Hanawi Natural Forest Reserve

90 minutes from central Haiku, off the eastern coast of the island, is the Hanawi Natural Forest Reserve. While this park seems far away, it just takes a while to make your way through the mountains and forests in between the town of Haiku and this wild natural oasis. Your dog will be all bounce when she sees her harness come out for a hike through this reserve. Just be sure to stay on the marked trails and clean up after yourself and your pup as you make your way through the park. Don't forget lots of clean drinking water!

Central Haiku is in the southern tip of Haiku-Pauwela. This part of town is home to two pupperific parks where you can bring your dog on-leash for a full day of fun in the sun or just a short afternoon walk after a stressful day. Haiku Park is a lovely small green park with plenty of grass for rolling and playing fetch in. Valley Isle Memorial Park is just a few minutes away. It is a larger park with a little more room for larger dogs or more energetic ones to get their exercise in. Just don't forget your waste bags too!

Haiku-Pauwela describes the area closest to the water on this side of the island of Maui. You will find lots of places to pull over and take your dog for a walk among the waves as you make your way along the coast. Pe-ahi Jaws Surf Break is a pupperific place to stop and snap some pics while cooling off on the edge of the water. This stop is incredibly pupular with locals and visitors. Just make sure you have plenty of doggy waste bags with you if you are traveling through with your pup, and that you are meticulous about cleaning up before you leave.

Kaupakulua is a small unincorporated area on the southern edge of Haiku-Pauwela. You will find the Fourth Marine Division Memorial Park is a lovely green space with an open field that is simply pawfect for laying out a picnic blanket with your fur family or packing up a bag full of toys and treats for a fetch tournament. You will enjoy laying in the grass and watching your dog tire himself out rolling or running around. You dog will love keeping his nose to the ground and even making some new friends with other pups that are hanging out nearby.

Twin Falls Maui Waterfall

The Twin Falls Maui Waterfall is a breathtaking stop on your way along the coast of the island. It is the pawfect place if you have been driving all day and need a sight for sore eyes. You and your pup can walk right up to the waterfall and sit and cool off in the mist while you take all the pictures you like. Not all dogs take easily to water, and if your pup doesn't like getting his paws wet, make sure to monitor his stress levels. Lots of treats and cuddles will help calm your dog if the sound of the falls is a little unnerving.
