Belleville, Illinois is a quiet little German town that beckons visitors because of its beauty and sense of community. The early German settlers were scholarly and their goal was to build a community in which they could thrive. The architecture is clearly German, with the distinct rowhouses that line the streets. Come and visit, and you will see that the community is strong with a sense of family and wellness.

Your first stop here should be the Belleville Community Center. You can walk your dog around the paved walking areas, or you can go inside the community center to take in the history of the area, starting with the settlement of the Germans and finishing with the coal mine settlers. In case your dog needs a checkup while you're here, you can visit any of the five veterinary clinics in Belleville.

If you would like something a little more family-friendly, you could check out Dawn Heights Mini Park. They have a fenced-in park where you can let your children come and play while you walk your dog around the open space. Pack a picnic to have the pawfect day out with your family!

Rotary Dog Park is a very well-maintained dog park that you and your dog can both enjoy. The city works very hard to keep the landscaping and the area free from anything that will keep you from enjoying the park. The large trees provide ample shade so that you can relax and enjoy watching your dog play. They have water stations, cleaning stations, and lots of seating areas for you to sit and visit with other pet parents. This park does ask that you do not bring any treats or toys that your pet doesn't share well.
