If you live in Spencer, you know how many pawesome things there are to do with dogs here! This town is full of beautiful parks and trails where you can go for fun walks with your furry best friend. If your dog needs a check-up, there are two veterinary clinics in Spencer.

Want to go for a long on-leash walk with your dog? Head over to the Depot Rail Trail! This two-mile trail follows an abandoned railroad bed, and it takes you through the forest and into downtown Spencer. Bring water and doggy bags, and have a great time hiking this trail. 

Westville Dam Recreation Area is another furrific place to go for walks with your dog. This park is 13.5 miles from Spencer, and it welcomes dogs on-leash. While you’re here, you and your dog can explore the park’s numerous scenic hiking trails. These trails will take you through the woods and along Westville Lake. Your dog will love sniffing around this scenic park!

This stunning 965-acre recreation area welcomes dogs on-leash, and it has hiking trails you can explore with your dog. These trails will take you around the scenic Howe Pond and by a lovely waterfall. They’ll also take you through scenic forest and along the Cranberry River. If you want to have a picnic with your dog, there are picnic tables next to Howe Pond. Bring plenty of water and doggy waste bags with you, and have a furtastic time hiking here!

Worchester’s Vernon Hill neighborhood is home to the pawsitively amazing Vernon Hill Dog Park. Located 12 miles from Spencer, this dog park has separate areas for big and small dogs to play in. Both areas have large, grassy fields where your dog can play and make new friends. There are doggy bags available, but be sure to bring water with you for your dog. If you’re hungry after playing at the dog park, check out Palma’s Bakery. This park has a total of two miles of trails you can explore with your dog. One of the most popular trails in the park is the Chasm Loop Trail. This trail takes you along the edge of Purgatory Chasm, and it passes tons of unique rock formations, including Devil’s Coffin, Lover’s Leap, and Devil’s Corncrib. You can also check out the Old Purgatory Trail, a small loop trail that takes you through the forest. You and your dog will both have a great time seeing all the sights in this reservation!
