Brimfield State Forest is another furrific place to take your dog for an on-leash walk. Located 17 miles from Charlton, this state forest has numerous trails to explore with your dog. Or, if you want to trek through evergreen trees, try the Evergreen Trail. You can also walk through a lovely meadow on the Farr Trail or trek along a steep ridge on the Oak Ridge Trail. If you’re looking for a fun off-leash area for your pup, check out Butler Farm Dog Park. Located 12 miles from Charlton, this dog park has a big fenced area where dogs of all sizes can play together. There’s also lots of fun agility equipment here for pups, including ramps to climb up and tunnels to run through. If your pup gets thirsty, water is available. To use this dog park, you’ll have to fill out an application and pay a small annual fee. Once you do that, you can go to the dog park anytime you’d like! Your dog will love running and playing in this furtastic off-leash area.

This Sturbridge neighborhood is home to Westville Dam Recreation Area, a great place to take your dog for a stroll. This park is nine miles from Charlton, and it welcomes dogs on-leash. One of the most popular trails in this park is the Westville Lake Trail. This 1.8-mile trail goes in a loop around Westville Lake. If you’d like to extend your hike, the Westville Lake Trail connects to the four-mile Grand Trunk Trail. This trail takes you through a beautiful forest. If you’re hungry after your trek, head over to Rom’s Italian Market. Sit at one of their outdoor picnic tables, and enjoy hot and cold sandwiches, pasta, salad, and pizza.

Located seven miles from Charlton, this peaceful park has tons of trails you and your dog will both love. For amazing views, check out the 1.5-mile Carpenter’s Rock Trail. This steep trail offers stunning views of Wells State Park and its surrounding area. If you’d rather go on a hike around a beautiful pond, try the 2.6-mile Mountain Road Trail or the .98-mile Mill Pond Trail. If all this hiking makes you hungry, Wells State Park has a scenic picnic area where you can enjoy lunch or a snack with your pup.

Located 20 miles from Charlton, this park is home to a picturesque trail that goes along the Blackstone Canal. This trail is mostly flat, making it easy for pups to walk on. There are also plenty of benches along the path where you can relax and admire the view. Bring water and doggy bags, and have a good time walking here. If you’re hungry after your walk, head over to The Burger Grille. This casual restaurant welcomes dogs at their three outdoor tables, and they offer delicious specialty burgers and customizable burgers.
