Averill is a small town in the state of Michigan, located on the outskirts of the larger town of Midland. This town is welcoming to all visitors, and is proud of its friendly, community atmosphere. And while Averill does not offer a veterinarian of its own, the Sanford Animal Clinic, in the nearby town of Sanford, is ready to take care of any of your pup’s health concerns.
For some outdoor time together, you and Fido should head to the Averill Preserve, on the Tittabawassee River, with its 74 acres of nature to explore. There are a number of short hiking trails, all welcoming to your pup, which lead to a gorgeous overlook of the river. Some areas might be a little challenging for elderly pups, so plan accordingly. For some additional hiking adventures, suitable to all pup-abilities, jump on the Pere Marquette Rail Trail. This old CSX railroad trail starts in the nearby town of Midland and runs for 30 miles. There are numerous parks you and pup can enjoy along the way, and lots of views of the surrounding countryside. Be sure to pack plenty of water for these excursions, and keep Fido on leash at both.
