Town Center
Fido will love visiting Lakeview Park alongside you and seeing all the amazing amenities it has to offer. Sitting right along the Houghton Lake, this park offers restrooms, a covered picnic area, benches, and a great paved walking path that you two can take a walk on. If you are looking to spend a few nights under the star, check out the Wooded Acres Campgrounds. They welcome Fido to spend the night with you and check out the lake as long as he remains on a leash and he is properly clean-up after. The campgrounds offers restrooms, a playground, and a swimming pool.36

North Houghton Lake
The Houghton Lake State Forest Park is a beautiful forest to spend some time in with your dog. It offers swimming, fishing, and camping on the north side of Houghton Lake. There are numerous hiking trails throughout the forest that you and your pup can explore, but make sure your dog stays on a leash. If Fido gets hungry while exploring the forest, then stop into the Northshore Lounge. This bar and grill offer delicious food like burgers, sandwiches, and fish. Their outdoor patio welcomes your dog to sit beside you while you enjoy your meal and a tasty beer with it.24

Prudenville
Trestle Park sits along Lake Houghton and has lovely amenities for you and your dog. There is a shaded picnic area, benches, a small grass area, and a nice paved walking path that circles that park that you and Fido can use for a walk together. Denton Park is a small park and one of the only parks in the area that doesn't sit right on Houghton Lake. This pawsome park offers a playground, camping, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Keep Fido on a leash when you visiting both of these parks that are in Prudenville, and only five miles from Houghton Lake.12

W Higgins Lake Dr / W Pine Dr
The South Higgins State Park is a dogtastic 1,000-acre state park that sits on Higgins Lake. The park offers a sandy beach, camping, a picnic area, and a boat launch. There is a nature trail that goes throughout the park that you and Fido can explore together, but be warned that the trail is ungroomed, so it could be difficult to travel along. The best thing about this park is Fido is allowed on the shore and around the lake without any restictions. Located in Roscommon, and only eleven miles out of Houghton Lake, Fido will have a great time explore this park with you.
