Deerfield Center/ Two Rivers
Just 13 miles east of Remus is the Deerfield Nature Park. Located in Mount Pleasant, this 591 acre nature park sits on the banks of the Chippewa River. Pack up your pooch and head over to explore the pupperific trails this park has to offer. You can choose from shorter trails like Goshawk Loop, Two Oaks Crossover, or Lewis Pontiac Trail. There are also longer options, like the 2.5 mile Wildwood Pathway or 1.5 mile River Loop. Keep in mind, dogs can’t go on the designated beaches or in the picnic pavilions. They are welcome at the campground, however, so if your pooch is enjoying himself, go ahead and stay a night or two.

Union Township
Treat your pup to a trip to Meridian Park. Located in the nearby town of Mount Pleasant, this is not your typical community park. This beautiful slice of nature is the perfect place for your four legged friend to get outside and enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. Wander through the wooded paths and look for the various types of wildflowers. Or head down to the banks of the Chippewa River and let your pooch cool his paws in the refreshing water. Your pal can also explore the wetland area. Bring some water, snacks, and a treat for your pup, and hang out for the afternoon.

Broadway St/ Adams St
Looking for a great place to walk your furry BFF? Head 18 miles east to Mount Pleasant and check out Mill Pond Park. Your pal will thank you for taking her to this puptastic park. It spreads over 90 acres and features a playground, canoe dock, fishing pier, and picnic tables. More importantly, there are natural trails perfect for canine explorers. A walk around these trails will take you from Mill Pond, along the banks of the Chippewa River, and past marshlands. The trails are all under a mile long, so if your pup needs a lot of exercise, you may need to circle around a couple times.

Pickard St/ Henry St
If your pup is begging for some off leash time, drive 20 miles east to Hannah’s Bark Park. Located in Mount Pleasant, this park is where all the cool canines come to play. Your pooch can ditch her leash, run free, and feel the wind in her fur! The park spreads across 3.6 acres, so there’s plenty of room for chasing, fetching, and playing. Small pups even have their own area. Pet parents can take a seat on one of the benches and watch their fur babies have a ball. Patrons of this park must have a membership. So head over to the Mt. Pleasant Parks and Recreation Department and register your pup today!

Remus Rd/ Lincoln Rd
The Remus Road and Lincoln Road area is home to Chipp-A-Waters Park. Just an 18 mile drive from Remus, this beautiful park is located in Mt. Pleasant. Leash up your pup and stop by for some doggy cardio and pawsome scenery. This park showcases the beauty of the Chippewa River. As you follow the Access Adventure Trail through the south end of the park, be sure to read the interpretive signs. You and your furry pal can learn all about the park’s wildlife and ecosystem. This park also has access to the GKB Riverwalk Trail. Follow this trail two miles north and you’ll come to Pickens Field.
