Southern Lansing
If you are looking for a wide open space for your pooch to run free, check out the southern region of Lansing, located about 30 miles from Bunker Hill. Here, you’ll find Soldan Dog Park, located next to Hawk Island. This dog park requires a day pass, which you can get online or call the park office. The day pass is fairly cheap -- you’ll pay just $10 to park and visit the park! This is an off-leash dog park with 12 grassy acres for your pooch to explore. You’ll also find walking trails here if you’re just looking to squeeze in a quick walk. Water fountains are available for humans and dogs, and doggie waste bags are supplied as well. All you need to bring is lots of energy! And Fido’s favorite toy, of course.36

East Lansing
East Lansing is so big that it’s considered its own city! It’s also home to a furrific dog-friendly place: Northern Trail Dog Park. This is the pawfect place for your pooch to run, romp, and sniff out a few new fur-iends! This 2-acre off-leash park is free to visit and offers a double-gated entrance so your boisterous buddy doesn’t escape. You’ll need to bring your own drinking water and waste bags, as these aren’t provided here. But don’t let the lack of supplies discourage you from visiting -- the park is also home to a pond where your pal can rinse the grass out of his fur, or just make a splash on a hot day!24

City Center
The Lansing River Trail cuts through central Lansing, and makes the pawfect place to hike with your hound. This paved trail was converted from an old, unused rail line into a walking trail by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, which has created more than 1,600 furrific trails across the country! The whole trail is a whopping 25.3 miles and is home to wooded areas and wetlands. The Lansing River Trail is a pawesome place to go if you’re looking to enjoy a little slice of nature in the middle of the city. Don’t fur-get to bring your own water along! Your pup must stay leashed on this trail.12

Williamston
The quaint town of Williamston is the perfect destination if you’re looking to get out of Bunker Hill for the day. Just 18 miles out of town, you’ll find a puptastic dog park: Joey’s Pet Outfitters Dog Park. This 7-acre park has plenty of room to roam and all the supplies you’ll need, including water and doggie waste bags. You’ll need to purchase a membership to visit, and be sure to pay close attention to the rules as well. The best part? This park is located right outside Joey’s Pet Outfitters Store, which welcomes your leashed pooch to shop with you!
