Who doesn’t love Mexican food? With the mouthwatering aroma of the enchiladas, the sound of the fajitas sizzling, and the crunch of the tacos in your mouth, Mexican food is a food group all its own. House of Tacos boasts being the best Mexican food place in Jackson. They want you to come out and see for yourself! You can even bring your dog with you to one of their outdoor tables. This eatery only has a couple of dog-friendly tables, so you may want to reserve one ahead of time. It is only ten minutes from Onondaga.

    #2 Park Road

There’s a Rails-to-Trails installment just ten minutes from Onondaga. Falling Waters Trails is a ten-mile trail that will lead you through what was once the rail bed of the Michigan Central Rail line. They have taken the time to pave it in asphalt so that it is easy for you and your pup to walk without getting too tired. Along the way, you can stop and take a swim, enjoy the picturesque views, or even just enjoy a picnic. It does pass over a few roads, but mostly it is just a rural trail.

    #3 Carmen Drive

New Paw Playground is a relatively new dog park that is about a year old. It was established by the Humane Society so that all the dogs of the area can have a safe place to run and play. As long as your pup is fixed and current on vaccinations, then they are welcome to come and make some new fur friends. You will love that there are large awnings built to shelter you from the heat of the sun. There are pavilions to sit at as well. The only downside is that children are prohibited from playing inside the fenced-in area.

    #4 Lakeland State Park

Established around 1990, Lakeland State Park Trail system was set up by Rails-to-Trails to follow the chain of lakes in Michigan. Michigan is said to have somewhere around 11,000 lakes. The nine-mile section of trail in this neighborhood is lined with sand so that you and your dog can enjoy walking on it and taking in the views of the water. The entire trail itself is around fifty miles or so. Some of it is lined with limestone, asphalt, or rocks, while some is almost untouched. This is only about twenty minutes from Onondaga, and is the perfect way to choose your own adventure.

    #5 Grand River

Joey's Pet Outfitters Dog Park is a large seven-acre dog park that is fully fenced in so that you and your dog can play safely. It has everything that you could need, including water stations, cleaning stations, and resting areas. There is a pond in the middle so that all the dogs can play in the water. You do have to register to play here because they want to make sure everyone is well-behaved and up to date on shots. Children under sixteen are not allowed to come in and play. They even have a store for you to shop for supplies! Talk about two birds with one stone.
