It is a spacious park, perfect for a game of catch or chasee on the grass, or sprawl out with a packed lunch and enjoy a picnic together. If you are travelling with kids, they will love the recreation facilities also on-site, including basketball courts, an in-line skating rink, a sledding path and a playground. Keep your pup leashed when walking around this park to keep him safe, and remember to bring waste bags with you. There is drinking water available and a concession stand where you can purchase a variety of snacks.

Southwest Ferndale

Just 1.6 miles directly east is Ferndale, where you are spoilt for choice when it comes to pup-friendly dining options. Assaggi Mediterranean Bistro has a classic variety of hot and cold meals, or try Inyo for delicious fresh sushi or plate of noodles. For some hearty pub grub, you can’t go past Rosie O’Grady’s to satisfy that hunger. Cupcake Station is just around the corner to satisfy any sweet tooth, and they even have gorgeous mini 'pupcakes' for four-legged friends! All of these places have outdoor seating where you can enjoy your meal with your pup resting by your feet.

E 12 Mile Rd/ Dequindre Rd

Rosies Park in nearby Madison Heights is an easy three mile drive and should definitely be on your Hazel Park to-do list! This 31-acre park has it all – playgrounds, restrooms, a concession stand, sports fields and courts, a BMX track and lovely walking trails. Pets are welcome to enjoy the park on a leash. The wooded trail is approximately one mile, and there is a second asphalt trail around the sports fields. Doggie waste bags and trash facilities are available, so please utilise these on your travels. Bring water and a drinking bowl for your pooch.

Pleasant Ridge

Pleasant Ridge Dog Run is just three miles northwest of Hazel Park, so jump in a car and head over for some off-leash fun! You will need to purchase a permit from the City of Pleasant Ridge, but once you have, you can utilise the fully-fenced park as often as you like. Some shade is available, as well as benches for you to sit at while you supervise your pup. There are often balls and other toys to play with, or you can bring some of your pet’s favourites. A doggie water fountain and waste bag dispenser are available on site.

Towar Park Subdivision

Nearby Royal Oak has many great pup-friendly restaurants and is just four miles northwest of Hazel Park. Tom’s Oyster Bar, Bastone Brewery, Lily’s Seafood, Noodles & Company, Inn Season Café, Little Brother’s Burgers, Gayle’s Chocolates and Trattoria Da Luigi all welcome dogs at their outdoor seating areas, so you can enjoy a meal or a coffee and cake with your pet by your side. If you fancy a spot of shopping, Royal Oak has a very special furniture shop called Bright Ideas Furniture. This place loves pets and welcome furry friends inside the building! They also see a variety of doggie merchandise and cool pet-inspired home decorations.
