The city of Pleasant Ridge in Oakland County, Michigan is known for its pristine neighborhoods, historic areas, and engaged citizens who regularly plan community activities. Over 2,500 people live in Pleasant Ridge, including several dog owners who love to use the excellent park facilities in town with their four-legged companions. Many of the homes in Pleasant Ridge are part of the national historic district, and if you're not at an off-leash park, walking the tree-lined streets in town with your dog on a leash is a wonderful way to spend time. Along the way, you'll probably run into friendly locals and get a sense of what a tight-knit community Pleasant Ridge is!

Pleasant Ridge Dog Run can be found in the northeastern corner of Pleasant Ridge, and rather than separating dogs by size, this single, large space invites dogs of all sizes to interact. You'll find running water, waste disposal supplies, seating, and shade within the dog park. You're required to purchase a pass and provide proof of your dog's vaccinations and registration before you visit this park, but regular users insist the cost is worth it! If you're looking for a dog park that doesn't require a fee, there are plenty of those nearby, too!

Wagner Park is less than a ten-minute drive from Pleasant Ridge, you'll find it in central Royal Oak, Michigan. Wagner Park is a 13.66-acre park that was established in 1956. On top of the disc golf course, playgrounds, and picnic facilities, Wagner Park also has a dog park! This dog park has its own section of Wagner Park, although it doesn't have a fence surrounding it and only has natural boundaries. Your dog is also welcome in other areas of the park, but they must be on a leash. Wagner Dog Run is free to use, and it's open daily from 6 AM to 9 PM.

Royal Oak is home to another pawesome dog park, and this one can be found in the northeastern corner of town, less than a 10-minute drive from Pleasant Ridge. Mark Twain Dog Park is a seven-acre park that was built in 1954, and locals and visitors alike love spending time here with their dogs. The park has a large section where dogs of all sizes can play, as well as a separate area just for smaller dogs. Parts of the park are wooded sections that give you the feeling of exploring a forest with your pooch. Be sure to buy a dog park membership for Mark Twain Dog Park before you visit.

Karner Farm Dog Park sits in the southwestern corner of West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, and it's about a 20-minute drive from Pleasant Ridge. Many visitors say this is the most beautiful dog park they've ever seen, and humans and canines alike fall in love with the rolling hills and green grass in this three-acre park. There are three sections in this dog park: one for dogs who weigh less than 25 pounds, a general section for all dogs, and a third section for pet owners with physical limitations. Like many dog parks in the area, purchasing a membership is required to visit.

Northwestern Royal Oak is home to yet another great dog park that's only about a ten-minute drive from Pleasant Ridge. Cummingston Park is a 25-acre park that was built in 1925, and it includes playgrounds, trails, sports fields, and picnic facilities in addition to the dog run. The designated off-leash space isn't entirely fenced-in, so if your dog's recall skills aren't top-notch, you may want to consider walking them throughout other areas of the park on a leash instead. Cummingston Park is open daily from 6 AM to 11 PM, and there's no fee to attend, but your dog must be licensed and vaccinated.

One of the most spacious dog parks near Pleasant Ridge can be found in northeastern Rochester Hills, which is only a 10-minute drive from town! This 5.2-acre off-leash park includes big and small dog sections, as well as water fountains for Fido. There's also covered seating, picnic tables, waste disposal supplies, and paved parking available at Red Oaks Dog Park. You don't need to buy a membership to visit this park, but if you plan to park your vehicle there, you're subject to a $5 charge. The rest of Red Oaks Park also has walking trails, sports fields, picnic areas, and other activities your dog can join you for if they're on a leash.
