North Main Street
Nearly 60,000 people live in the city of Royal Oak, Michigan and it's less than a half-hour drive from Romeo. One special place in town is known as Wagner Park, and this spacious city park has a designated off-leash area for dogs. Unlike many other off-leash areas, this space isn't fenced. Keep that in mind if your dog's recall skills aren't up to snuff. The rest of Wagner Park sits on nearly 14 acres of land, and it includes picnic areas, playgrounds, and a disc golf course. Your dog can hang out with you in other areas of Wagner Park when they're on a leash.36

Romeo Plank Road/Cass Avenue
The Clinton Charter Township is part of metro Detroit, and the town's center is less than 20 miles from Romeo. This is where you'll find the Clinton Township Dog Park, and both you and your dog are sure to love it. This 1.5-acre off-leash park now includes a separate enclosure just for small dogs, in addition to an all dog area. The Clinton Township Dog Park has water fountains for dogs and humans, as well as seating, shade, and waste disposal supplies. To join the park, you are required to pay a small fee and provide proof of your dog's vaccinations. You'll notice how well-maintained this dog park is, and that's mostly thanks to membership fees going toward maintenance.24

Orion Oaks
Yet another dog park less than 20 miles from Romeo can be found in the northwestern quadrant of the Orion Charter Township. The Orion Oaks Dog Park is one of the biggest in the area, and all 24 acres of it will be a delight for you and your dog to explore. There are different sections of the park, including separate enclosures for big and small dogs. If your dog is a swimmer, they'll also love that there's water access at Lake Sixteen just for dogs. Throughout the park, there are two trails, and you'll also find water fountains, picnic shelters, seating, and restrooms.12

Emlo Park (Elmo Park)
There's another dog park in Royal Oak, and this one can be found in the city's northeast corner, which is about a half-hour drive from Romeo. The Mark Twain Dog Park has a large space for dogs of all sizes to play, as well as a separate area just for small dogs in the back of the park. Like most parks in Illinois, you're required to purchase a membership to visit the off-leash park. The rest of Mark Twain Park has a variety of trails to explore, and these are free to use with your dog when they're on a leash.
