Mountain Park is quite a new park, which is why it is largely undeveloped. The park mostly features dense woodland, with plenty of vegetation for Fido to sniff about in. There are two hiking trails within the park that you and your pooch can follow, with the White Trail spanning the length of the park, and the Blue Trail taking you to a scenic lookout point at the top of a hill.

Start your day at the 51 acre Hidden Valley Park, a hilly park that offers up stunning views of the Millbrook Valley. This is a passive park with a pond and nature trails, providing such an idyllic space in which to spend a few hours. For a larger park, take your pooch to the 172 acre Freedom Park. There are seven fields here, as well as several other sports facilities, a picnic pavilion, a large playground and a few walking trails.

One of the most scenic parks in the neighborhood is the Jackson Ave River Park, which the Rockaway River flows through. This is a passive park that offers up a lengthy trail that follows the curves of the Rockaway River, providing gorgeous views for the entire journey. Not too far away from here is Lombardo Park, which is home to a large lake, a gazebo and a 0.7 mile walking path. Dogs are welcome in both parks, but don't forget to bring a lead, doggie bags and drinking water with you.
