Bloomfield Ave
Less than a mile from Mountain Lakes is the Denville neighborhood of Bloomfield Avenue, which provides all you need for a pawtastic day out with your pooch. Begin by taking a stroll around the five acre McCarter Park, where you will find a playground, a playing field, a walking path lined with benches and trees, and plenty of grassy areas for Fido to sniff about in. After your walk, treat your pup to a meal at one of the dog-friendly restaurants in the neighborhood. Thatcher McGhee's serves up dishes of Irish and American origin, while Beignets specializes in the softest and warmest beignets, with creative flavors and toppings.

Rainbow Lakes
Rainbow Lakes in Denville is less than a mile from Mountain Lakes, and offers up some beautiful green areas for you and your pooch to explore. The Smith Tract is a large open space that is home to so much natural diversity, while Fox Hill Road Park is filled with woodlands, as well as picnic tables situated in small pockets in between trees. The Rainbow Lakes Park is also worth a visit, with its sports field and beautiful woodland areas. While dogs are allowed to use all of these parks, they do need to be kept on a lead at all times, and make sure to bring some doggie bags and drinking water with you too.

Gardner Field
The Denville neighborhood of Gardner Field is just over a mile from Mountain Lakes, and is named after the large expanse of green within it, known as Gardner Field. This is a popular park, thanks to its recently upgraded playground, but also boasts sports facilities, a gazebo, picnic areas and a paved walking path. Also in this neighborhood is Cynthia's Landing, a small park on the banks of the Rockaway River that offers up some spectacular waterfront views from its short walking trail. If you and Fido visit these parks, remember that a lead, doggie bags and drinking water are essential, and a picnic would also be a good idea, as the picnic areas within these parks are incredibly scenic.

Boonton West
About a mile from Mountain Lakes lies Boonton West in Boonton, and this is the pawfect place to go if you are looking to treat your pooch to a restaurant meal. Before you eat, take a stroll around the beautiful and peaceful Grace Lord Park, where you will find a playground, waterfalls and hiking trails. Once you have worked up an appetite, you have plenty of choices available, such as Vinnie's Pizzeria and Ristorante, where you can try some of their gourmet and square Sicilian pizzas. If Fido would enjoy listening to some music while you eat, Maxfield's on Main is known for their live performances, and has a menu inspired by music too. For dessert, check out the Scoop House, a traditional ice cream shop with both classic and creative flavors.

The Estates of Kinnelon
About three miles from Mountain Lakes is The Estates of Kinnelon, a neighborhood in Kinnelon with so many green spaces. Your pup will no doubt love the 1500 acre Jersey City Watershed Acq, with several recreational activities, including hiking trails, to choose from. The Sasso Tract is also worth exploring, with its large wooded areas, as well as Beaver Brook running through it. The Estates of Kinnelon also provides access to Jonathan Woods, where you will find a 6.5 mile hiking trail that will take you and your pooch through some gorgeous forest settings. Just don't forget to bring a lead, drinking water, and a few doggie bags!
