Rockaway Borough Center
Parks Lake is a puptastic place to bring the entire family, including children, seniors, and doggos. This multi-use park features a 0.7-mile paved walking track that encircles a small pond, a gazebo that hosts free summer concerts and other programs, and benches all around where you can just chill and hang out with your pup. You'll also find a semi-private, man-made beach that's only open to members during the summer months. The lights are kept on all night at Parks Lake, making it a safe place to go for a leashed walk or jog at any time of the day.

Lake Telemark
Go on a nature getaway with Fido at the Farny State Park in nearby Rockaway Township. Explore the great outdoors of New Jersey as you and your pup follow the various hiking trails that meander across the 589-acre natural area consisting of a mixed oak harwood forest, streams, and swamps. Before entering the park, you will see the Splitrock Reservoir, which provides drinking water to Jersey City. Other activities that are available at the Farny State Park include birdwatching, fishing, and cross-country skiing in the winter. The park follows a “carry in, carry out” policy, so be sure to pick up after Fido. Bags are supplied throughout the site in case you forget to bring your own.

If you and Fido find yourselves in this neighborhood in the nearby town of Dover, be sure to stop by scenic Hurd Park. A popular spot for prom and wedding photos, Hurd Park is home to several cherry blossoms that line both sides of a winding stream, making it a truly picturesque location. Though beautiful all year round, it is recommended to visit during the spring and fall. Don't forget to take photos with your pooch at this puptacular park! About a mile from Hurd Park is Crescent Field, where you can go for a leashed stroll on the paved walking paths and have a picnic at the picnic tables.

The Forges at Denville
Is Fido feeling lonely and in need of some canine friends? Then take him to the Happy Hound Playground in the adjacent township of Denville! Located within the Veterans Memorial Field complex, the Happy Hound Playground is a fenced-in, off-leash area where Fido can play fetch and run around with other doggos in a safe environment. Do note that this dog park is only open to members with annual passes, which can be obtained from the police department by both residents and non-residents. While you're waiting for Fido's application to be approved, you can take him for a leashed walk around Veterans Memorial Field instead.
Route 10 / Powder Mill Rd
The Central Park of Morris County in nearby Morris Plains houses a dog park that's pawfect for pooches of all sizes and energy levels. The expansive site is divided into three sections: one for small dogs; another for large dogs; and a shared area where everyone can go on a short, off-leash nature hike. The Central Park County Dog Park is very popular, so Fido will surely make some new friends here. If your pooch is shy and not sociable, go for a quiet walk in the woods at nearby Mountain Way. This hidden gem contains well-marked and well-maintained trails that make for easy hikes.
