A center for iron manufacturing during the Revolutionary Period, Rockaway is now a modern New Jersey borough with a strong sense of history. About an hour's drive from New York City, Rockaway is home to two animal hospitals to keep your best friend in tiptop shape.

Make sure your pooch stays happy and healthy by taking him for daily walkies! The Jackson Avenue River Park is a furrific place to do just that. With the Rockaway River flowing through this quiet park, you and Fido will be treated to beautiful views of the water as you take a leashed stroll around the area. Benches and picnic tables provide several spots to relax and eat, so do pack some food and treats.

The adjacent Donatoni Community Park is another good spot for Fido to stretch his legs. Doggos are welcome on the walkways as long as they are leashed and cleaned up after. The park houses a playground and athletic fields, but these are off-limits to four-legged visitors.

If all that walking has made you and your pooch hungry, head over to Missy's Main Street Cafe to grab some food. This eatery is very pup-friendly, with outdoor tables and even a menu especially for dogs!

Visit the Borough of Rockaway for a pawsome time with Fido!
