I am a long time pet lover and owner. I have had puppies (no matter their age they are all puppies to me) since I was little. As I grew up I had kitties, bunnies and even hamsters. There is just something special about pets and their unconditional love. They just give me the warm fuzzies. Most of my pups have come from the animal shelter or no kill animal groups. Puppies have been a huge part of my life and if I could share in your puppies life, if only to go on a walk. Then lets go for it!

Hey there, my name is Shelby! I'm a weight lifting, fish catching, veteran dog mom of 2 rambunctious 1 year old girls! I've been a dog momma/sister/auntie my entire life (24 years)! I have experience with all ages and stages of growing puppers and am confident and comfortable in my ability to walk/run, train, adhere to specific diets, administer medications, or just spend time with as many pups as I'm lucky enough to!

Bernalillo is a town of more than 9,000 people in Sandoval County, New Mexico. Bernalillo became a "wine town" in the 1600s, and to this day, the community honors that heritage with the yearly New Mexico Wine Festival, which is just one among many events that take place there. The strong community ties in Bernalillo make it a wonderful place to raise a family, and the mild climate is pawfect for spending time outside with your pets. Bernalillo is on the outskirts of Albuquerque, and many residents travel there each day for work. There are plenty of opportunities within Bernalillo, however, as there is a variety of restaurants, shops, and other businesses in town.
Among the restaurants in town is Pizza 9, and not only is their pizza great, but they also have four outdoor pet-friendly tables so Fido can join you for a slice. This casual eatery has all sorts of options on their menu that range from pizzas to salads, sandwiches, pasta, wings, and dessert. There isn't an off-leash dog park in Bernalillo, but after your meal at Bernalillo with your pooch, the two of you can head off to visit one of many dog-friendly parks nearby.
Less than 10 miles south of Bernalillo is the North Domingo Baca Dog Park, just south of the neighborhood of Eagle Pointe. This beautiful and spacious park has a section for dogs under 30 pounds, as well as a separate section for bigger dogs. North Domingo Baca Dog Park is open every day from 6 AM to 10 PM, and it has lighting for those who visit the park when it's dark out. There is water available at the park, as well as seating, awnings, and trees. The surface of this dog park is wood chips, which makes it easier to clean up after your pet.
Los Altos Park near the eastern Albuquerque neighborhood known as Towne Park is only 20 miles from Bernalillo. This dog park is conveniently located right off of the I-40 highway, so it's a good spot to stop and let your dog stretch his legs when you're traveling. There are big and small dog sections in the park, and it's open every day from 6 AM to 10 PM. This park is lighted for visitors who come very early or late in the day, but it doesn't have a running water source, so be sure to bring your own. There are waste disposal bags available in the park and seating as well.
The area of central Albuquerque known as Huning Castle is only 18 miles from Bernalillo. This community is named after Franz Huning, a man who contributed significantly to the development of Albuquerque in the 1800s. On the southern limits of this neighborhood sits the Rio Grande Triangle Dog Park. This dog park has separate big and small dog sections, but small dogs are allowed in the bigger dog section at the owners' discretion. There are a variety of surfaces in the park for dogs to explore, as well as water, seating, and shade. The park is just across the street from a playground with picnic facilities, too.
Only 16 miles and a little more than a 20-minute drive south of Bernalillo is the Coronado Dog Park in the neighborhood of Wells Park in downtown Albuquerque. This spacious dog park consists mostly of wood chips, with some grassy areas, which helps cut down on muddy paws. There is water available at the park, and it's open every day from 6 AM to 10 PM. If you plan to visit once the sun has gone down, please be advised that there is no lighting in this park. There is seating available for humans in the park, and dogs who visit must be six months of age and over.
If you venture to southern Albuquerque with your dog, the two of you can visit the Montessa Dog Park. It takes about half an hour to get here from Bernalillo, and the dog park is in the South 25 Business Park area of town. One of the things that makes this dog park a local favorite is that it showcases the natural New Mexican landscape and your dog will have so much fun exploring it. There is some agility equipment for dogs in the park as well as doggy waste disposal stations, but bring your own water when you visit this park. If you'd like to go on a leashed walk with your dog, there is also a trail outside of the off-leash park.
