Central Whitney
Whitney is a pawtastic neighborhood for you and your pup to get some exercise and social time. Take Fido to Dog Fancier’s Park for some off-leash fun with other four-footed members. This park has 5 different fenced areas for pups. Four can be reserved for private use. The fifth area provides public access 6 AM to 11 PM every day. For a special adventure, explore the Wetlands Loop Trail in the Clark County Wetlands Park. Your pooch is welcome to accompany you, provided you stay in designated areas and keep your furry friend on a leash up to 6 feet long. After your adventures, head over to the local Sonic and get a treat for yourself and your canine companion.

Whitney Ranch
Located just west of Whitney, the neighborhood of Whitney Ranch offers tail-wagging times for pups and their owners. Head over to the White School Park and Stephanie Lynn Craig Park Complex and walk along the trails in the area. Combined, the recreational facilities offer 20 acres of fields, trails, and family areas. From these parks, you and your pooch will be able to access the Whitney Mesa Nature Preserve. Take a mile-long hike with Fido in 6 acres of open space. Explore the stream and and geologic formations with your pooch in this beautiful preserve. Dogs are permitted in area parks, provided they are kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and that you pick up their waste.

Midway
The Midway neighborhood borders Whitney to the south and offers a fantastic area for you and Fido to get some exercise. Russel Road Recreation Center has green space and a walking course. Bring your pooch on a leash up to 6 feet long and go for a hike in the 27-acre park. Don't forget to bring along some water so your pup doesn't suffer on those dog days of summer. After you and Fido get some fresh air and work up a nice appetite, head over to In-N-Out Burger on Sunset Road to grab some grub. Ask for a protein-style burger, which is a bunless, all-beef patty, for your pooch. He's sure to bark in appreciation!

Pittmann
Not to be confused with Pitman neighborhood on the other side of Las Vegas, the neighborhood of Pittmann offers pups and their owners some pupful recreational opportunities. To give your canine pal some four-footed social time, take advantage of the off-leash dog park in Wells Park. After your pooch gets some free play time with other pups, leash back up and stroll along the paved walking trail around the park. For a change of venue, take Fido over to Wells Park to stretch your legs on another walking trail. Pets need to be on a leash that’s no longer than 6 feet on trails and in area parks. Remember to pick up after your pup wherever you go.

Calico Ridge
Located about 7 miles east of Whitney, the neighborhood of Calico Ridge has Tuscany Park, a 7-acre area that includes a walking course for you and Fido to get a little exercise. If you want to go on a longer hike, head over to Mountain Lake Park. After you explore this desert park with Fido, connect to the Lake Mead Parkways Trail, the Wetland Loops Trail, or the River Mountains Loop Trail and take your pooch on a pawtastic jaunt through the area. Pups are permitted on these area trails as long as you keep them on a leash no longer than 6 feet and pick up any messes.
