This neighborhood is home to Hamburg’s one off-leash dog run, Rootie’s Run Dog Park. This dog park has two separate areas: one for large dogs and one for small dogs that weigh under 25 pounds. Drinking water is available for pups in spring and summer, but it’s turned off in winter, so be sure to bring water with you during the colder months of the year. Your pup will love playing and meeting other dogs here! If all this fun makes you hungry, head to Mighty Taco. Grab one of their dog-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy delicious tacos, burritos, and fajitas.

Woodview Avenue

This mixed residential and commercial neighborhood has a furrific park where you can take your pup for on-leash walks called Woodview Park. While you're here, you and your pup can go for walks along Eighteen Mile Creek. You can also relax on one of the park’s benches and enjoy views of the water. Bring water and doggy bags with you, and have a fun day out at the park! If you want to get a bite to eat after the park, head to Carte Blanche. This restaurant welcomes dogs at their four outdoor tables, and they serve rustic Italian dishes made with local ingredients.

Knox Farm State Park

If you’re looking for a great place to spend the day with your dog, head to Knox Farm State Park. This 633-acre park is 13 miles from Hamburg, and it’s home to a huge off-leash area. This dog run has separate areas for large and small dogs, and it has a doggy rinse station for messy pups. If your dog gets thirsty, drinking water is also available. After your dog is finished playing, put their leash back on and take a hike on one of Knox Farm State Park’s hiking trails. The park has five hiking trails that take you through vast fields and peaceful woodland areas. You and your pup will both have a great time exploring this lovely park!

Lakeview

Lakeview is home to Buffalo’s only off-leash area, The Barkyard at LaSalle Park. This dog park is about 17 miles from Hamburg, and it offers two separate areas: one for large dogs and one for small dogs. Both areas are fully fenced, and they have doggy water fountains for thirsty pups. Bring a couple tennis balls or a Frisbee, and have a pawesome time playing with your dog here! After the park, continue your fun day out with lunch at Gino’s NY Pizza. Sit at one of their dog-friendly outdoor tables, and dine on classic thin-crust New York pizza, hot and cold hoagies, and more.

Central Park

If you’re looking for another pawsitively amazing place to take your dog for an on-leash walk, head to Delaware Park. Located 20 miles from Hamburg, this park has numerous paved walking paths where you can go for walks with your pup. These paths take you past picturesque Hoyt Lake and through rolling meadows. Bring doggy bags with you, and enjoy strolling through this park. If you want to get your dog a special treat after the park, head to Daisy’s Dog House.
