Allentown
Allentown in Buffalo, New York, is a little over 31 miles from Irving. This neighborhood sits right near the border of Canada and can get chilly in the fall and winter, so you’ll want to bring a sweater for your pooch if you plan to visit The Backyard at LaSalle Park. This fenced-in dog run has a separate area for smaller dogs to play safely, and has lots of grassy area to run, play, and release some energy. If you’re looking for a casual hangout spot in Allentown, you can visit Tap House Pub & Grill, with a full bar, yummy food, and outdoor seating for you and your pooch.

The Waterfront neighborhood in Buffalo is a beloved spot by the locals, nestled up against the Niagara River and the Buffalo River. This spot is about 29.9 miles from Irving, and is known for some gorgeous beaches and fun things to do along the water. Here, you can take your dog to Wilkenson Pointe Park, which has relaxing trails for you to explore. Keep your dog on his leash and he’s welcome in several areas of the park, including on the beach during designated times in the off-season. Just under 32 miles from Irving is Grant Ferry, another neighborhood in Buffalo. Buffalo Dog Park is in this neighborhood, giving your pooch a place to play and socialize. Grant Ferry also has some delectable dining opportunities for you and your dog to choose from, including Resurgence Brewing Company, the pawfect spot for you to relax after a long day, order up some beer and food, and enjoy your dog’s company. And, it’s also where you’ll find Delaware Park, a favorite in the area for dog owners. A little over 40 miles from Irving, NY, is Billington Heights in East Aurora. This neighborhood is where you’ll find Knox Farm State Park, a gorgeous, calm, country spot away from the hustle and bustle of surrounding cities. The park has over 600 acres of ponds, grasslands, wetlands, and more, that feature a variety of wildlife. You and your leashed dog are welcome to walk the hiking trails and explore the grounds. There is even a small dog park located within Knox Farm State Park where your dog can have some unleashed time to run and meet some new friends.
