In the Downtown Fredonia neighborhood, in the village of Fredonia, 8 miles southwest, visit the Russel Joy Park featuring plenty of grassy areas to relax on, and a playground for the kiddos. Although small, this park offers several trails which meander throughout, and will each give you and Fido a short walk to enjoy on level terrain. All the trails are suitable for all pup-abilities. There is a restroom on site, but be sure to pack plenty of water to share. Pups must be kept on leash here. Hungry yet? Head to the Upper Crust for some pup-friendly dining and home cookin’!

Dutch Hill

Pack up your pup and head to Memorial Park in the Dutch Hill neighborhood, in the village of Dunkirk, 9 miles west of Forestville, for some small-town outdoor fun. Located on Dunkirk Harbor, this is a park built around the town’s memorial monuments, which offers a small, paved path, perfect for taking a short stroll with your fur-ever friend. Area residents use this park as their go-to picnic area as it features a beautiful, scenic location near the water for having lunch. Your pup will enjoy the time spent with you here. Please bring mutt mitts to keep this park pup-friendly.

North Martin

In the North Martin neighborhood in the village of Dunkirk, 9 miles west of Forestville, Wright Park right on Dunkirk Harbor is your ticket to fun with your pawtastic pup! There are lots of grassy, open areas for you to relax on, or to take your pup for a stroll. Relax all day under the shade of the many trees located here, or romp in the fields and courts for the sports enthusiasts. Take a rest or a meal at the picnic areas and pavilions. Restroom facilities are provided here, as well as drinking fountains. Keep your fur-ever friend on leash throughout and clean up after them.

The Point

Point Gratiot Park in the village of Dunkirk, just 9 miles west of Forestville, features fun for all. This pup-friendly, waterfront park lies on Lake Erie and offers lots to do with your fur-ever friend. Take Fido for a walk on the trails throughout, which meander along the water’s edge. Bicycler’s frequent these paths as well, so be sure to keep Fido on leash. There is a playground for the kids, sports fields and fishing right from the shore. There are also swimming beaches for people, but not for pups here. Restroom facilities are provided.

Cassadaga

For a great outdoor adventure, head to the Canadaway Creek Wildlife Management Area, located 14 miles south of Forestville in the village of Cassadaga. There are 2,180 acres of native wildlife habitat and tons of fun for you and your pawtastic pup! This premier hiking location offers three trailheads for you to head out for a day’s walk. One trail takes you to a beautiful pond, or hike on another to Kaaterskill Falls. There is a mix of open space and forest for lots of photographic opportunities. Fido will love playing off leash in the Canadaway Creek running through the property.
