Hillsboro Village
In Hillsboro, don’t judge the bite by its bark. This small hamlet or village of West Camden is home to a number of large properties perfect for a scenic walk down Hillsboro Road. Head less than 10 minutes down the road to Forest Park and enjoy an afternoon stroll across the foot bridges or party with the pups in one of the park’s pavilions. Keep them in reach on a leash, and be careful when they stop to sniff the flowers. Flower picking is strictly prohibited. After you walk up an appetite, stop for a nibble at Nicole’s. Barbecue is their specialty, and your dog will be happy to keep you company at one of their outdoor patio tables. If they’re lucky, you’ll get them a bone (or two) to go!

Sylvan Beach
Twenty minutes southeast of Hillsboro lies the town of Vienna, New York, named after the capital city of Austria. Here, you’ll find charming Sylvan Beach on the Eastern coast of Oneida Lake. Though the beach is off limits to our four-legged friends, the grassy areas just outside are the perfect spot to soak in an afternoon sunset. Crazy Clam is a cut above the rest with delectable mouthwatering steaks all year round. When the weather is nice, the patio is the place to be, and your pup will certainly love all the attention. Save room for dessert, and satisfy your sweet tooth with an ice cream at Cinderella’s. Fido will have a ball people watching with you at one of their outdoor tables.

Rome's City Center
If you haven’t caught on already, this area of upstate New York is known for the European inspiration reflected in its city and town names. Located about 30 minutes from Hilsboro, it’s safe to assume Rome will win over your doggie’s heart with a number of pawesome places that shouldn’t be missed. Let ‘em loose at Rome’s Bark Park, the only off-leash dog park in Rome. Head to the historic Canalway Trail in Old Erie Canal State Park and keep those big eyes on the prize with a leash, as many distractions such as bicyclists and equestrians are likely to entice Fido to play chase. Whether you’re craving Italian from The Vigneto Restaurant, Pub Grub from The Mill, a slice of pizza from DiCastro’s Birck Oven, or sweet treat from Dippin Donuts, your furry date will be happy to accompany you at one of their outdoor tables.

New Hartford Suburbs
Just about 45 minutes from Hillsboro, you’ll find the town of New Hartford, a suburb of Utica, New York. Roll down the windows and let the wind blow through that fur as you embark on a scenic road trip down south. First stop should be at the New Hartford Dog Park in Sherrill Brook Park. Be sure to register before arriving, as this fenced-in dog park has over an acre of off-leash freedom calling for your dog. You wouldn’t want to say no to those puppy eyes. When you’re ready to say paws out to the park, head to Tony’s Pizzeria for a casual bite of your Italian favorites. Choose from one of their outdoor tables to reminisce about the epic day you just had.

Brewerton
Located about 25 miles south of Hillsboro on the Western side of Oneida Lake, you and your four-legged companion will love exploring the beauty of Oneida Shores County Park. Open year-round, your dog will look forward to the adventures literally awaiting by your side, as all leashes must be six feet or less in length. Head to Paladino’s Cicero Pizza, less than 10 minutes further south, to continue your outdoor adventure with a slobber-worthy slice of multi-topping pizza while seated at one of their outdoor tables.
