Dog Areas in Irwin, OH

Irwin is a small, unincorporated community located in the southwestern part of Union Township near Elmwood Place, a historic farm listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Irwin is a place where you can enjoy the slow pace of life. If you want to do or visit something interesting with your mutt, the nearby areas are happy to welcome you for a day or two. You will find at least one veterinary clinic in North Lewisburg and five more in Urbana, which is the closest city to the area.

Being a part of Union Township makes Irwin a good place to have a pup or two. There are not so many activities in the community itself, but Union Township is a pet-friendly and nature-friendly community operating and maintaining four parks: Mt. Carmel Park, Clepper Park, Ivy Pint Park and Veterans Memorial Park. The latter is a great place to let your pooch to play and frisk in the grassy area and enjoy socializing with other canine friends.

You’ll also find the 56-acre, dog-friendly Shor Park located at Schoolhouse and Tealtown Roads, with three walking trails, a natural environment, wildlife and picnic areas where leashed pooches are welcome to join their masters in some outdoor activities.

But you don’t have to travel too far to find a good place to bring Fido. Bark Park, a new favorite place among four-legged visitors, is set not far from the city center at 455 North Maple Street. The park is fully fenced and features 4 acres of off-leash joy, offering pawed paths, benches, lots of grass, trees, and hills.
