Northern West Jefferson

West Jefferson is a village in Madison County where you can find a beautiful 2.203-acre park. The park is called Prairie Oaks Metro Park, which is located in the northern part of the village. The Three Mile Creek passes through the park, which means your pup can enjoy a swim. It's the place to be on those hot summer days. Furthermore, the park includes a couple of lakes and ponds. On-leash walks are allowed, but if you want some off-leash furtastic fun, there is a special area in the park near one of the lakes where dog swimming is allowed. The dog beach is not fenced, so you have to look out for your dog. Afterward, take a stroll on Roberts Pass Trail.

Harrison West

Harrison West is a pretty big neighbourhood in Columbus, situated around 17 miles away from West Jefferson. In this neighborhood, there is only one dog park: Wheeler Memorial Dog Park. This fully fenced, off-leash park includes benches, paths, grass, hills and trees. There is a water pump at the park as well as water bowls, so you don't have to bring your own. The park can get muddy if it's rainy, so you should bring a towel for your pet. Don’t forget to bring some doggie waste bags and some treats and toys for your pal.

Eastern Delaware

A little bit further from West Jefferson, by the Alum Creek Lake, is a dog park named Alum Creek Dog Park. It is around 30 miles away from West Jefferson but the drive is definitely worth it. The dog park is separated into two areas: a water play area with a dog beach, and a grassy park area with shade from the trees. Is there anything else Fido could want? If you have a smaller pup don't worry; there are separate areas for small and large dogs. Alum Creek Park also has water fountains for you fur babies, as well as bathrooms for the humans.

Brewery District

Approximately 20 miles away from West Jefferson is a neighbourhood in Columbus called the Brewery District, which is home to an interesting dog park: the Scioto Audubon Dog Park. Like most good dog parks, this one has a separate area for small dogs, too. It also has agility areas, a digging sand pit, and enough space for your doggo to run around and socialize with other dogs. If you need a rest after all that fun, you can visit Gresso's Restaurant, where dogs are welcome on the patio on Tuesdays. Or try Basil Restaurant! Remember to keep your pal on a leash at both locations.

Northwest Columbus

Twenty miles away from West Jefferson, in Northwest Columbus, is the Godown Park. The park is separated into two areas; the area for large dogs is 4.5 acres, and the area for small dogs is 1 acre. You won’t have to worry about bringing your own drinking water, since it’s provided here. There are also a lot of shaded benches, and the park has double gated entrances in both areas. A rinsing station is available as well. You are not allowed to bring toys or treats, though. Aggression is not tolerated, and your pup has to be neutered or spayed to visit. Moreover, children under 9 are not allowed in the dog park.
