Brewery District
On the western border of Columbus’ Brewery District, you’ll find the Scioto Audobon Metro Dog Park, located within Scioto Audobon Metro Park. This scenic park offers gorgeous views of the Scioto River, as well as plenty of activities for you and your pooch! The designated off-leash dog area is complete with fun agility equipment to give your pal a good workout. After you’re finished frolicking in the dog park, leash up your pal and take a walk on the nature trails within the larger community park. Don’t fur-get to bring along some water and waste bags, as neither is provided here. Afterward, head into the Brewery District to find some great Fido-friendly restaurants!36

Victorian Village
Victorian Village is home to Goodale Park. This small community park is the pawfect place for your pooch to explore nature and make some fur-iends. Since this isn’t a designated dog park, you’ll need to keep your pup on a leash and bring the necessary supplies, including water and waste bags. Goodale Park is pawpular with both resident and visiting dog owners, and offers a few walking trails to explore. Locals advise that this park can get very muddy in bad weather, so be sure to bring something to clean your pup’s fur. Not in the mood for exercise? Stop by Bakersfield, a Mexican restaurant located close to the park. Leashed dogs are welcome at outdoor tables.24

Merion Village
Hankering for a hike with your hound? You’ll find the perfect place to enjoy a nice walk with your pup just outside the Merion Village neighborhood, on the other side of the Scioto River. The Lower Scioto Greenway was a former rail line which has since been converted into a furrific walking trail by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. This trail is 10.5 miles long and offers some beautiful views of the river The trail is mostly asphalt so you will want to make sure it does not get too hot for your pooch’s paws. There are shaded areas along the way, but you will want to bring some water for you and your pup. Your pooch will need to be on their leash, so grab it and head on out to see how much of the trail you can conquer!12

Whetstone
The majority of the Columbus’ Whetstone neighborhood is taken up by Whetstone Park, a large community park which is more than happy to welcome leashed pooches! The official dog policy at Whetstone Park dictates that all dogs must remain on-leash while here. Locals advise that dogs can play off-leash down by the creek at the park; however, this area is not fenced, so your pooch should respond well to voice commands. Use your best judgment -- if in doubt, keep your pup on a leash so everyone plays safely! And don’t forget to bring all the necessities, like drinking water, waste bags, and your pup’s favorite ball.
