Being only ten miles away from Oklahoma City, Choctaw will get you all the benefits of living near a big city along with all of the charm of small-town living in Oklahoma. Choctaw only has a population of a little more than 12,000, but Oklahoma City has a population of over 600,000 and it's right next door! Choctaw is a great place to be a dog owner, and its sub-tropical climate means that the weather is pleasant and perfect for being outside any time of the year with your dog. Choctaw has one of the best school systems in the state, great parks, police, and fire departments, and a handful of local veterinary offices.

Just 12 miles southwest of Choctaw is Del City, and Del City is home to its own dog park called Wiggly Field Park at Ray Trent Park. This three-acre dog park has sections for big and small dogs, plenty of play and agility equipment, fire hydrants, water fountains, seating, and shaded pavilions. Before you head to Wiggly Field Park, please be aware pit bulls and children under ten are not permitted in the park. Choctaw and its surrounding areas have so much to offer dogs and dog owners, and this park is just the beginning!
