Northwest Shawnee

The most pawpular place for off-leash fun near Bethel Acres is undoubtedly the Mary Maxine Williamson Dog Park! Located in the Northwest Shawnee neighborhood, about a seven-mile drive from Bethel Acres, this huge fully enclosed off-leash area is a pawsitively furrific place for pup playtime! The park is divided into separate large and small dog areas that both have lush grass and plenty of shade beneath mature trees. There are also benches under some of the trees, so humans can comfortably hang out on warm days. Your pooch will have lots to sniff around the fire hydrants and plenty to drink from the doggie drinking fountain. There are cleanup baggies and rubbish bins located near the entrance of the park.

East of OBU

A woofderful oasis awaits you and your furry friend in Shawnee’s East of OBU neighborhood, about seven miles from Bethel Acres! Just a few blocks east of Oklahoma Baptist University, this neighborhood is known for its serene Rose Garden Park. You and your leashed dog will love taking some time to stop and smell the roses that are growing throughout this woofderful, well-kept park. There is a beautiful stone walking path and lots of grass where you and Fido can stroll, plus tons of mature trees and a picnic table. Spread out a blanket and soak in the peaceful ambiance of this beautiful place with your pup by your side.

Oak Park

Check out one of Shawnee’s largest parks with your four-legged friend in the Oak Park neighborhood! About seven miles from Bethel Acres, you and your pup will have a ball exploring this neighborhood’s Briscoe Boy Scout Park. At nine acres, there’s tons of room for playtime! Take a walk on the half-mile paved walking path, enjoy a round of disc golf on the park’s course, or take a jaunt on the rolling hills of this grassy green space. Briscoe Boy Scout Park also has a large picnic pavilion, two playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts. It’s a pawsome place to visit with your pooch and the rest of the family, too!

Dexter's Lot

There are two puptastic parks for you and your pup to visit in the Dexter’s Lot neighborhood in Shawnee! Just a quick seven mile drive from Bethel Acres, this area’s Larch-Miller Park is a pawpular place for playtime and picnics. With tons of shady trees around and lots of grass, the park is a go-to spot on warm Oklahoma afternoons! There is a paved walking path where you and your pup can stroll, plus a large playground area where your two-legged children to burn off some energy, too! About one block away, Redbud Park is another pawsome place to hang out with your leashed dog! This well-kept community park has lots of open lawn, plus picnic tables in both the sun and shade.

Broadway North

Visit one of Shawnee’s hidden gems in the Broadway North neighborhood, about seven miles from Bethel Acres! The neighborhood’s Kenwood Park is a quiet natural area that is home to tons of chirping birds and even some other urban wildlife like squirrels and rabbits! You and your leashed dog will love all the sights, sounds and smells as you walk in and around these beautiful woods. The deciduous trees are an especially woofderful sight in the fall as they put on a display of showy golden colors. On the north end of the elongated park, there’s a large grassy area where you and your pup can enjoy a picnic or playtime.
