Explore some of Monmouth’s puptastic parks in the Monmouth City Center/ Western Oregon U neighborhood! Leash your pup and head to Madrona Park, where you and your dog can walk on the half-mile paved path that meanders through the park. Madrona Park also has a network of gravel nature trails that your pooch will love! The park has an arboretum, covered picnic areas, a basketball court and a playground, too. Check out the neighborhood’s serene Gentle Woods Park – this wooded park is a furrific place to relax with Fido and maybe even spot some wildlife! La Mesa Park, Winegar Park and Main Street Park are other pawsome parks in this neighborhood where leashed dogs are welcome. The city’s off-leash area, Monmouth Dog Park, is also located in this neighborhood.
Your pup will be chipper as a chipmunk at Cherry Lane Park in this Monmouth neighborhood. Cherry Lane Park is a beautiful open green area located in a quiet residential neighborhood. The well-kept lawns at this park make it a pawsome place for a picnic or playtime with your leashed dog. The park also has a playground, paved walking path and picnic tables. Whitesell Park is another puptastic place to hang out with your leashed pooch in the neighborhood. The park has benches where you and your dog can watch the world go by, plus a basketball court and a playground.
Ready for adventure? Head to the South Monmouth neighborhood’s E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area, about 11 miles south of Monmouth. This 1,788-acre beautiful and open natural area has tons of roads that are closed to vehicles, so you and your leashed pooch can explore the area with ease! This pawsome park is home to lots of wildlife, including deer, rabbits and waterfowl. You may even see busy beavers and majestic birds of prey, too! The E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area has fishing access and woofderful learning opportunities on the park’s Interpretive Trail. There is a small fee for parking at this year-round park.
Looking for off-leash fun? Visit Independence’s namesake neighborhood, about two miles from Monmouth! The neighborhood is home to the Independence Dog Park that has more than two acres of fully fenced-in yard for your dog to romp and socialize. There are shady trees and access to the Willamette River! Your pooch will love splashing and playing in the cool waters! The Independence Dog Park has doggie waste cleanup baggies, too. Riverview Park in this neighborhood also welcomes leashed dogs, and you’ll love the scenery as you hike along the paved path near the river. Pioneer Park and Henry Hill Park are other furrific and fur-iendly parks to enjoy in this neighborhood.
There will be tons of tail wagging in the Dallas City Center neighborhood, about eight miles from Monmouth. Your pup will go bananas for the Central Bark Dog Park in this neighborhood. This fully fenced-in park has both mulchy and grassy parts, and designated yards for large and small dogs. Your pup can hang out in the shade of one of the mature trees, or socialize in the big open space. The Central Bark Dog Park provides cleanup baggies and drinking water for pups. There are picnic tables, too. After Fido has gotten some exercise, check out Latitude One, a fur-iendly dining option in this neighborhood. Latitude One serves up seafood and steaks and has patio tables where leashed dogs are welcome to hang out with their people.
