Battle Rock
The name Battle Rock originated from the skirmishes fought between English explorers and the native Qua-to-mah tribe during the 1850s. This area is much more peaceful these days, now the home of a national park by the same name. Leashed pups are welcome to sightsee alongside their parents, just as long as they pick up after them. The beach at Battle Rock is an excellent place to cool your toe beans and soak up some summer sun. Who knows? You might even spot a gray whale! Your pooch is sure to have a doggone good time!

Humbug Canyon
Humbug Canyon is a furrific place to spend a day or the whole week! The canyon is part of the Humbug Mountain State Park and contains 95 dog-friendly campsites, many of which have electricity and wheelchair accessibility. The state park has many trails for furry adventurers to sniff out, such as the 4.6-mile Old Coastal Highway trail, which meanders through woodlands and crosses a lovely creek that your pooch can cool off in. When your pup has had their fill of mountaineering, break out the water bowl and relax those aching paws on the beach. This park is great for beach combing -- with your fluffy investigator in tow, there is no telling what you might find!

Cape Blanco
Just 10 miles north of Port Orford lies Cape Blanco, named after the area's white cliffs by Spanish explorers. This preserve is pawfect for dog families with a variety of interests, boasting options for fishing, swimming, hiking, and horseback riding. The park’s most prominent feature is the Cape Blanco Lighthouse, which was constructed in 1870 due to the maritime dangers that surrounding reefs posed to sailors. The area is also renowned for fossils, so keep your little digger close! There are two reservable dog-friendly cabins for pups (and owners) that need an extended vacation -- these go fast, so make sure you call ahead!12

Oregon Coast Hwy
Take a walk on the wild side with a visit to Prehistoric Gardens, a dinosaur-themed self-guided trail through beautiful Oregonian woodlands. Established in 1955, this unique roadside attraction has become a favorite for pooches and kids (both young and old!). There are 23 life-sized replicas of prehistoric creatures that once roamed these lands, including a three-story-tall Brachiosaurus! There are trivia signs peppered throughout the trail to test your dino knowledge and plaques alongside each replica with information about the creatures! The path is both wheelchair and stroller accessible, so no one has to be left out! Just don’t forget the leash!

Blacklock Point
Considered by many to be a hidden gem, the Blacklock Point Trail in Floras Lake State Park is not one to be missed. This 4.3-mile trail is moderate in skill level and may seem lackluster at first glance, but it is anything but that! The majority of the trail winds through dense shrubbery, but the breathtaking views at the end are unbeatable — acres of blooming wildflowers and black sand beaches make for the pawfect photo op with your pooch! This trail is very popular with local dog owners, so your pup is bound to make some furry friends along the way!
