If you want to take your dog for a leisurely stroll, Pitcairn Park is the perfect spot for you. This peaceful neighborhood park welcomes dogs on-leash. If you’d like, you can take your pup for a walk on the quiet, gravel road in the back of the park. This road goes past the park’s baseball field and groves of trees. Or, take your dog onto one of Pitcairn Park’s open fields and let them sniff around in the grass. Bring some doggy bags and some water with you, and have a pawesome walking with your dog here!

When you’re looking for a fun off-leash dog run, head over to Heritage Park Dog Park. This dog park is just three miles down the road from Pitcairn, and it has separate areas for large and small dogs to play in. The park is nice and shady, and there are doggy bags and water available for your pup. If you want to cool down after all that playing around, head over to The Meadows Original Frozen Custard. This ice cream shop has dog-friendly outdoor tables, and they serve both classic custard flavors and creative flavors that change every day.

Squirrel Hill South

Squirrel Hill South

Squirrel Hill South is home to the Frick Park Off Leash Exercise Area. This dog run is about 11 miles from Pitcairn, and it has a large field where dogs can play together. There’s also a creek that dogs can swim in. One side of the dog run is unfenced, so be sure to keep your pup under voice control. Bring water and your dog’s favorite toy, and have a fun time playing here. If you want to get a bite to eat with your dog after the dog park, check out Sun Penang. This delicious Asian fusion restaurant has outdoor tables where you can enjoy dim sum, dumplings, noodle dishes, and more with your pup.

This White Oak neighborhood is home to another pawesome off-leash area: White Oak Dog Park. Located just six miles from Pitcairn, this dog park has separate large and small dog areas, and both areas are shady and covered in mulch. There’s water available for thirsty dogs, and there are also doggy bags in the park. Plus, there are often tennis balls available to use. This dog park has tons of great things to offer your pup! If you want to go on a fun walk after the dog park, put your pup’s leash back on and take them for a stroll on one of White Oak Park’s scenic hiking trails.

Allegheny West is home to the furrific Allegheny Commons Park West. This park is about 17 miles from Pitcairn, and it has tons of flat and paved paths where you can walk your dog on-leash. Plus, the park has a great off-leash dog area. This area is unfenced, so be sure to keep an eye on your dog while they’re running around. Bring your dog some water, and have fun playing here. For a delicious meal after the dog park, head over to The Modern Café. This casual eatery serves up delicious bar fare, including hoagies, burgers, and shareable platters of nachos and buffalo chicken. Dogs are welcome at this restaurant’s outdoor tables.
