Wilkinsburg is a borough of Pittsburgh. It can be tough to know what's inside this area, since the locations inside still have Pittsburgh addresses. On the plus side, it's easy to know what you're close to: everything! Wilkinsburg is a fantastic base camp for all things Pittsburgh, from doggie dining to any sort of park your pup's heart desires!

Start your exploration with Hunter Park. This large, open park is a gorgeous field. It's also within the bounds of the Wilkinsburg borough! This is a great place to take an energetic dog for a nice, long walk. You can bring your own team to play a little sports, or leash up your pup for a quiet walk. This park is light on amenities, but space is a premium in Wilkinsburg!

You can also explore Ballfield. This simply named park is a gathering place for local sports teams. There's an open grass area and a small baseball field. Your leashed dog can explore the field at your side. If there's a game in progress, you can skirt the edges for a convenient walk within the boundaries of Wilkinsburg.

Frick Park is a nine minute drive from Wilkinsburg, and it’s absolutely worth it. This park is huge! It has a playground and sports fields, but the major draw is the off leash dog park! You have to walk deep into the park, but follow the barks to the most fun your dog can have in Squirrell Hill South! This designated off leash area is not fully fenced, so be careful if your dog is still working on coming when called. It’s set deep into the park, so so there’s little risk in the immediate area. The Pat Seneca Memorial Field is a nine minute drive from Wilkinsburg in the city of Pittsburgh. This field is a great place to go for a long walk with your dog. The entire field leads to a simple walking path that loops this long, thin space. You should bring your own water, and remember to keep your pup on leash. Looking for something a little more exciting? Bullock Pens Park is another local, natural park. Its paths are tree lined, making them more comfortable to tackle on a hot day. Be sure to bring your own water.
