Plain Grove
The Plain Grove neighborhood provides access to a couple of spacious green areas that your dog will love. The first is the Miller Woods Nature Preserve, which features mature hardwood forests and a variety of plant and animal life. There is a loop trail here, just under a mile in length, which will take you and your pooch around the preserve, showcasing its rich biodiversity. Plain Grove also provides access to State Game Lands Number 151, which measures just under 1500 acres in total. The terrain here is quite rocky, but boasts beautiful views of the lake within the grounds, as well as of the surrounding areas.

Harrisville Borough Center
The Borough Center of Harrisville lies adjacent to the boundaries of Slippery Rock, and offers up some dog-friendly fun that Fido will love. Begin with a walk around the 75 acre Armco Park, where you will find a large playground, sports facilities, a walking path, and the only outdoor swimming pool in northern Butler County. Keep in mind that you will need to keep your pooch on a lead here. Once you have walked up an appetite, stop for a bite to eat at the dog-friendly Family Tradition Restaurant. You and Fido can dine together at one of their outdoor tables, sampling the restaurant's highly-rated home-style American classics.

West Liberty
The small town of West Liberty is about a mile from Slippery Rock, and is a pawsome area to explore with your pooch. This is where you will find the 32 acre Miller Esker Natural Area, home to the Miller Esker, which is a natural feature that was formed about 23,000 years ago. Although there are no marked trails within this park, you and Fido are allowed to walk to the top of the impressive 40 foot esker. If you need somewhere in the neighborhood to spend the night with your pup, the Lake Arthur Family Campground features 60 acres of both wooded and open sites, and welcomes dogs so long as they are kept on a lead.

Prospect
The small town of Prospect is about five miles from Slippery Rock, and is home to the 16,725 acre Moraine State Park. As you can imagine, there is plenty to do here, from walking the 71 miles of hiking trails, to exploring the 1750 square feet of beach, to dining at one of the 705 picnic tables. Dogs are welcome to use this park, so long as they are kept on a lead at all times and do not enter into any of the swimming areas. If all of that was not enough to tire Fido out, head on over to the Frank W. Preston Conservation Area, where you will find a seven mile paved walking trail.

Borough Center/ Grove City College
Just over five miles from Slippery Rock lies the Borough Center/ Grove City College neighborhood in Grove City, which is an action-packed part of town. This neighborhood provides access to the Grove City Memorial Park, where you will find playgrounds, a swimming pool, sports facilities, a goldfish pond and a paved walking path. Once you have shown Fido around, treat yourselves to a meal at Nonni's Corner Trattoria, where the two of you can enjoy some tasty Southern Italian cuisine. If you would like to spend the night in this neighborhood, check yourself and Fido in to the Super 8 Grove City, which welcomes two dogs per guest room for a small additional charge.
