The bustling City Center of Alvin is more than just shops and restaurants, but also some lovely greenery to escape to. The Tom Blakely Hike and Bike Trail passes right through downtown, and is easy on the paws and the eyes. The trail starts at the back of National Oak Park. The trail passes through tall trees and green grass, and offers plenty of opportunities to see wildlife. The pathway features benches and small pavilions along the way. Leashed dogs are welcome, as long as they get picked up after! If your stomach is growling after all that fresh air and exercise, head over to Gordon Street Tavern. Here you can enjoy one of the 33 craft beers and a tasty burger on the dog friendly outdoor patio. Water bowls are included!

If you’re in the Owen Acres neighborhood of Alvin, you’re in for a treat! It’s here that you can find Morgan Park, just off of West South Street. This park has something in it for the whole family, including playgrounds, a variety of lighted athletic fields, and mowed grassy areas to sniff and play on. Located in the north end of Alvin, in the Cornett Road neighborhood, you can find another popular place to hang, the Resoft County Park. This park features a beautiful pathway that circles around a small lake and is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a heart pumping jog with Fido. You can even feed the ducks on the lake or enjoy some fishing! But be careful as there are gators in the water. This park also features playgrounds and restrooms. Clear Creek Shores
In the neighboring town of League City, just east of Alvin, you can find another puppy paradise! The Clear Creek Shore neighborhood is proud home to the Bark Park at Countryside, about 15 minutes from Alvin. The Bark Park is located on the south side of the Lynn Gripon Park. Here you can find everything your pup needs for a good time, including agility courses, a pond to splash and play in, and drinking water. Waste bags are available as well. There are two separate fenced off areas for large and small breeds. The surrounding creekside park also welcomes leashed dogs, and features a woofderful walking trail, picnic areas and athletic fields. Make sure your pup leaves only paw prints in this park!

When you and your pupper are itching to get into the great outdoors, head over to Challenger Seven Memorial Park in the Webster West neighborhood of Webster. This park is just under a 20 minute drive northeast from Alvin, and it’s worth the drive! This sprawling 300 acre park is dedicated to the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster, and features a memorial and learning center. There are plenty of trails here, where you can enjoy some exercise with Fido and some peaceful meditation in nature. There are also playgrounds, restrooms, and pavilions that overlook the water. Leashed dogs are welcome, just make sure to follow the leave no trace policy! After working up an appetite, head over to the Twin Peaks Restaurant in the same neighborhood. This restaurant offer scenic views, popular bar food and four pet friendly outdoor tables.
