Situated on the Appomattox River, City Point Park features a wonderful playground in addition to a paved path to walk your pooch. The gardens in the park are beautiful in the spring and summer. If you are hanging out at the park in the evening, be sure to admire the sunset over the river before heading home. Just north of the park, you can also walk around the Petersburg National Battlefield area. The open space is perfect if your pup wants to run around while you look out over the river. If you walk a couple blocks south of the park, you will find the Heritage Gardens which offer convenient benches and a paved walkway where you and your pooch can walk and breathe in the fresh air.

Ward 4

Crystal Lake Park and the adjacent Mathis Park are both located on River Road, and feature plenty of open space to walk with Fido. Part of the park is an athletic complex with ball fields and a walking trail. If you head over to the upper portion of the park, you will find a beautiful pond with a fountain and a path to walk with your pooch. The kids can play at the playground, and there are clean and convenient restrooms available. Fido will have a furtastic time running through the grass and sniffing the trees while you admire the gardens and landscaping.

Hopewell Marina

The Hopewell Marina neighborhood features three parks where you can spend quality time with your pup. 3 ½ Street Park is located on 3 ½ Avenue, and offers a playground for the kids and a walking path around the park. Fido can chase a ball in the open space while you can relax at the picnic shelter after some energetic play. Nearby, you will find Riverside Park offering a ball field that is perfect for a game a fetch with Fido, and there is convenient parking available. Hopewell City Park is situated close to the river and offers a nice walking path where you can stretch your legs and admire the views. The playground is fun for the kids, and Fido will have a snifftastic time in the grass while you relax on a bench.

Hopewell Du Pont Annex

A pupular neighborhood destination can be found on Waverly Street at the Kings Court Park. The area features a nice walkway where you can stroll with your pooch and there is playground equipment for the kids. The gardens are beautiful in the spring and summer, and you and your pooch can admire the views while you get some exercise. There are picnic shelters where you can relax away from the sun. Be sure to dispose of your doggie waste bags in the convenient receptacles. If you need a pup-friendly place to stay the night, Fairfield Inn & Suites is nearby and welcomes three pets of any size for an additional fee.

Arlington

Arlington Park in this neighborhood offers a fun destination for pups and their parents. There is plenty of grass where Fido can romp and roll and have a snifftastic time, and the kids can hang out at the playground on the swings and climbing structure. You can stroll with your pooch along the walking trail around the park and get in some laps before relaxing at one of the picnic shelters. Fido may even enjoy watching a tennis match or kids playing on the basketball court. You will need to bring your own water bottles, and doggie waste bags to help keep the park clean and maintained.
