Chimborazo
The Chimborazo neighborhood in Richmond is approximately 30 miles southwest of Saint Stephens Church. Church Hill Dog Park is located in the 3600 block of Grace Street. This dog park has a fully fenced area for off-leash running and fun. There is a separate enclosure for the small dogs. Drinking water and hoses are among the included amenities. There are kiddie pools for those dog days of Virginia summer, too. A covered shelter and picnic table gives the human companions a place to park and talk while supervising their pups at play. The terrain of the large enclosure is grass, dirt, and some rock. There are many local dogs at this dog park, which is free and open to the public.

Ashland
Ashland is 28 miles west of Saint Stephens Church. It is home to Taylor Dog Park, located at 12471 Taylor Complex Lane. Taylor Dog Park is a one-acre, fully fenced grassy field for dogs to run and play leash-free. This dog park has several pieces of agility equipment for extra training and fun. It also has water stations, and features some kiddie pools where dogs can make a splash in hot weather. Waste stations are provided for handy cleanups, and benches can be found throughout the dog park. Shade is at a premium, though, in this dog park. Taylor is open from dawn to dusk.

Northside
The Northside neighborhood, or Northern Barton Heights, has many things for you and your pup to do. It is approximately 25 miles southwest of Saint Stephens Church. Northside Dog Park is located at 609 Forest Lawn Park Road. The dog park has two large, flat grassy fields, which are fenced for off-leash running and socializing. There are two enclosures, but no sign marking one for small dogs. There is no running water on-site. Water is delivered in jugs, and water bowls are also provided. Waste bags are supplied at the dog park. Picnic tables are placed in the dog park and outside of it.

Maymont
Maymont is a neighborhood in Richmond approximately 30 miles southwest of Saint Stephens Church. Maymont has plenty of activities for you and your pup. Barker Field at Byrd Park is located at 2481 Park Drive. Barker Field Dog Park has a fully fenced enclosure for off-leash dog fun. There is a separate fenced area for small and shy dogs. The ground in the dog park is hilly in parts and covered with grass and dirt. Dogs can get dirty playing in this dog park -- luckily, there’s a hose to rinse off. Visitors donate tennis balls and toys for the dogs to enjoy. Benches are provided for the human companions.

Mechanicsville
Mechanicsville is city 20 miles southwest of Saint Stephens Church. Pole Green Dog Park is located at 8996 Pole Green Park Lane. This dog park has 1.2 acres of fully fenced area for your dog to take off the leash and run and play. Amenities include water, waste stations, and places for human companions to sit. There is separate time-out box (i.e. small fenced enclosure) for dogs that need to cool down. The main park also features hiking trails for on-leash walking. The Annex at Pole Green is another dog park enclosure set aside for older or timid dogs. Hankering for a bite after all that play? Mechanicsville has a few dog-friendly restaurants. Sports Page Bar & Grille, located at 8319 Bell Creek Road, has outdoor patio dining for you and your dog. Sonic Drive-in is also in town, and welcomes dogs at their outdoor tables.
